Anyone up for a community photo project?
Sunday is the INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DARFUR! (More Info)
When UN peacekeeping forces enter a region, they are recognized by the blue berets and helmets they wear. Wearing a blue hat will symbolize the urgent need to protect the people of Darfur with UN peacekeeping forces.
So, I want your blue hats! Or, more specifically, YOU and other people in your blue hats.
My goal is to get 100 pictures of people in Blue Hats by Sunday...they'll be posted to a Flickr group as soon as I get some in.
You can leave them in a comment in my journal, or here, or e-mail them, or anything you want.
crossposted around.

Hey all, I'm new here :)
I'm Kim, and I'm 15, living in the great old region that's about to get pounded by ice and snow. Gotta love Philly.
I've been shooting for two and a half years...started with a Pentax ME (50mm f/1.7), and now most of my work is done with a Canon S1 IS digital camera. Music is my thing...I want to be a concert photographer. I also take lots of sports pictures, but I won't be posting them here until baseball season starts again. Anyway, what better way to introduce myself than with some pictures? These are all from October, except the guitar one which was shot with a Fujifilm S3000 sometime last winter.
( follow the yellow-brick cutCollapse )
Er...is this one of the communities where I should post my f/stop and shutter speed for each picture?

Well I hope I can.
First I'll introduce myself. My name is Lizet. I'm 22 and I'll be 23 on Friday. I'll be starting my 5th year at a second community college working towards becoming a flight attendant or working in the travel & tourism industry. I've been taking pictures for as long as I can remember - my dad was a professional photographer and my mom is the self appointed photographer for all church and family functions. at the beginning of 2004 I took my first photography class and fell in love with it. We learned to develop our own black & white film as well as print the images. I had the opportunity to continue on to the next class, but personal things came up and I wasn't able to.
I haven't been able to take many more b&w's but I do have a few of my fave's from the class scanned.
( pictures here...Collapse )
Other pictures that I've taken since those haven't come out as great. I think B&W is the medium that I work best with.
Well that's all, please let me know that you think!

Hello All
I am new here. Thought I would tell you a little about myself. I am a 21 year old female, living in the good old state of Maine. I am currently in college, will be starting my Senior year in September. I am attending the Maine College of Art, and I am majoring in Photography. I got interested in photography at a young age, and I feel in love with it, and it's something that is there for me when I need to express myself in a way that most my firends and family don't understand. Since being at college, I have worked with 4x5 cameras, 35mm cameras, 120 cameras, digital, color/black & white. My passion is black & white, and once I graduate I plan on setting up my own studio and producing lots of photographs.
Well, I guess that's enough for now. I'll do my best to post some of my own work, but at the moment I can't get into school to get my harddrive, or my negatives, since the school has changed it's locks already. But once I am able to get a hold of some of my negatives, I will scan them and post my images. I sure hope that people can enjoy them as much as I do.
That's it for now, till next time.
~Becca~

I'm new to a few photo communities, and felt I should introduce myself. So here I am. I'm trying to find a few photo communities to view others' work as well as recieve constructive criticism back, therefore, this entry is cross posted three times. Sorry if this offends anyone.
I just bought a Fujifilm Finepix 3800. I like/love it. Photography has been a passion of mine and for the longest time I used a nice old & simple Pentax SLR, but I finally invested in a digital camera so that I can easily share my work and hopefully, in the long run, improve. ^.^

Okay ladies and gents. I know there are few of us, but for the few of us, I have the photo of the month.
Now, there's a twist to this photo of the month ply. If I can get any of you to cooperate, heh. The twist to our photo's of the month is this: Each member is to recreate as best they can the photo. If unable to recreate the photo, a photograph closely related to the main topic or subject can be posted, or a photo that displays a personal reaction, inspiration or interperetation can be posted. There's no judging it, just doing it for fun, and exercising your photographing abilities. Have fun with this!
Our photo of the month is by Ansel Adams. I'm sure all of you know who Ansel Adams is? Here's a website that has a whole -biography- about him.
Now, the photo of the month...

A month from today I'll be posting another photo, with another challenge. :)

I forgot to post the rules here as well, so here they are:
THE RULES: 1) All work must be the original work of the LJ-user who posted it. NO PLAGIARISM. Don't take credit for work that isn't yours.. it's illegal, and just plain lazy. 2) Lj-cut... learn it and love it... and by God, USE IT! If you have more than 1 photo, use the lj-cut option. If you have photo's that are larger than 500x500 pixels, please put them behind a lj-cut. I'll delete the post, don't think I won't. 3) Nudes MUST be placed behind a lj-cut with a proper warning before-hand! NO EXCEPTIONS... NONE NONE NONE! I don't want to open my page to see 2 breasts perkily staring at me, dammit. And please NO pornography... I don't want to see "Cum Guzzling Gutter Sluts" or "Beautiful Black Backdoor Babes" thank you. If I want to see porn I'll go look for it on a porn site. THIS IS NOT A PORN SITE. 4) There's a large difference between CONSTRUCTIVE and DESTRUCTIVE criticism. Constructive criticism is an opinion on a piece of work justified with reasoning. Destructive criticism is merely an asshole thing to do with no intent of helping the photographer improve. Destructive criticism is a mean, degrading opinion with no justification. Things like, "That sucks. You suck. Put down the camera and pick up a gun" will NOT be tolerated. Please use constructive criticism only; that and positive remarks are welcome. 5) No personal attacks on other members or photographers. Please take the childish name-calling back to KINDERGARDEN where it belongs. If you have a problem with another member, take it up with them on your own time and in your own journal, NOT MINE. Racism, sexism, bigotry or anything of the kind is not tolerated.
I don't ask much... just be courteous of other members.
Please share your work, and if you post to get comments please leave some with other members. Don't expect if you do not give. :P
There will be a "photo of the month" and contests and all that jazz.. Lots to look forward to, including tips and lessons and the like.

Well... Hi, I'm Meems. And this is my first and new community, OneHourPhoto. This community is dedicated to the photographers out there that want to share their work with fellow LJ users for criticism and just plain fun.
I have a few rules.... just a few.
The community guidelines will be posted sometime soon both here and in my info page.
