This is the English version of the original Japanese essay.
    Original Japanese version available here.

I once got lost on the road

    Since I had no choice

    I asked the bus driver

    for directions

I thought it would be fine since it was local

    The station was

    from there

    not too far away

"Where are you going? Are you alright?"

    he asked, so

"Yes. As long as I reach the station,

it connects to the station I want to go to"

    When I said that

    the bus driver

    broke into a smile

    I was there

    at every possible point

    at the station called

    the "platform"

    one day

    as a "lost soul"

    I stood on the platform

    A train

    arrived at the platform

I looked at the route map

    and checked the next station

    And then

since I knew which was my "nearest station"

I boarded the train in that direction

    Because I got lost

    I had to go

to the place where I belong

    Right now, I

    wonder where I am

and how much closer I have gotten

    to the 'nearest station'

Even if I feel a bit anxious

there are train tracks after all

    and it says

    'this direction'

so I have no choice but to believe

    Someday

    some day

    at the 'nearest station'

I will see the scenery of that station

    I might feel relieved

    And then

    on the way home

    a cup of

    I want to drink coffee
