当時、ウサギの寿命は
6〜8才と言われていた。
チューピーがその年頃になると、
犬や猫とも違う、格別な手触りの
毛を撫でながら、
急に涙があふれたりした。
私は怯えていた。
チューピーのいない世界を、
想像することができなくなっていたから。
At the time, rabbits were said
to live six to eight years.
When Choopy reached that age,
I would suddenly find myself in tears
as I stroked his fur—
a texture unlike that of dogs or cats,
something truly special.
I was afraid.
I could no longer imagine
a world without Choopy.
