Anyone who hangs around me for a while will realize that I have a very deep fascination with the relationships between female characters. Femslash or platonic.

I have consciously known this for a while. But my re-involvement with ReBoot and re-discovering my love for the Dot/Mouse friendship all over again kinda brought it back to the forefront.

So here, have a ramble:

( My fandoms and relationships between womenCollapse )

Hum. I intended for that to be a bit longer, actually. But my brain upped and wandered off for a wee nap not long after I started. So if there's anything here anyone thinks needs elaborating on, feel free to squee/rant to your heart's content in yonder comments.

Oh, and do post your own favorites, regardless of what fandom they're in. Because the idea of turning this entire thing into one big post of girl!love is a bit awesome really...

Comment to this entry and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. You must then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

My brain has been doing odd things lately to me lately, like giving me ideas for Doctor Who/Sliders crossover fic.

It is strangely convinced that teaming up Jack Harkness and a post-PTSS Arturo is a Good Idea. Ditto for teaming Quinn and Hartnell. And I'm starting to agree with it. Hum.

Oh yeah, and then there's that Mickey/Wade crossover 'ship fic idea that refuses to get out of my head...

Gah, make it stop!

Need to get my ass in gear with these, I'm only about half-way through season 1. (And it's not a very long season either...)

A fair warning here: this is one of my favorite episodes in the series. So this review is very, very, VERY lengthy. Longer than my review of the pilot ep, I think. So um, yeah.

"Last Days"
The gang lands on a world where the atom bomb was never dropped. Unfortunately, this Earth is also due to be obliterated by an approaching asteroid before the designated time to slide. While Arturo investigates the possibility of completing the "failed" A-bomb to destroy the asteroid, Rembrandt participates in the end of times celebrations. Meanwhile, Quinn and Wade sneak off to snog... er, try to find an alternate escape route from the doomed world.

( Looooooong review here (you have been warned!)Collapse )

Cheers,
Tanina

Urgh, the fanvid is coming so slooooowly... *headdesk*

To pass the time while I ponder possible clips to use for the next section: another Sliders review. As I really should finish these rants on season 1 before I turn 50...

"Fever"
In a world where penicillin was never discovered, a lethal strep-like infection called "the Q" is running rampant on the population. While Rembrandt attempts to rescue Quinn from a militant medical research facility, Arturo tries to find a cure to save the Q-infected Wade.

( You did what you could for this world, now slide...Collapse )

Cheers,
Tanina

Yes, I'm finally continuing them... the fanvid is eating my frelling brain and I need a break from it. :P

"Prince of Wails"
Quinn and co. arrive in a world where America lost the Revolutionary War and is still under British rule in the present day. Their stay is complicated by the discovery that Arturo's double on this world is the corrupt Sheriff of San Francisco, plotting the death of the kindly but naive Prince Harold.

( Review thingyCollapse )

I've already watched "Fever" as well and scribbled down some notes. So will probably post that rant sometime tonight...

Cheers,
Tanina

So I spent the whole day working on a Sliders fanvid I started some days ago. And when I say whole day, I mean whole day. I started working on it this morning at around 10am-ish and continued non-stop until 6pm. And it was completely unintentional. I mean, I just casually looked up at the clock once and went "Holy crap, it's 3:00!" God, these things are major time suckers...

I currently have 2 minutes and 25 seconds of vid nows. And yeah, totally done with the vid for the day. If I stare at it once more, I think I'll shoot myself. x_x

Mom and I went to see Over the Hedge yesterday. 'Twas cute, though with a wee bit too much comedic slapstick for my liking. But cute. *gives Verne a hug*
--

Shall now give my poor brain a break from staring at the comp and go watch "Prince of Wails" and "Fever" for me Sliders reviews before pextheunalive notices I haven't done it yet...

Cheers,
Tanina

Note: I am going to be doing these in production order and not the silly FOX broadcast order that makes precious little sense, hum. (And unfortunately DVD set is in broadcast order, forcing me to skip around discs in order to watch them properly. Urgh)

"Summer of Love"
The Sliders land in a San Francisco reminiscent of the psychedelic 60s, with free love-promoting hippies protesting the war in... Australia? Quinn and Arturo try to repair the burnt out timer, while Rembrandt and Wade are taken in by a benevolent hippie commune convinced they are alien prophets.

( More lovely ranting this way...Collapse )

I just watched the Sliders pilot with the Tracy Torme/Robert Weiss commentary turned on. And thus decided that this was a good time to start those reviews that I keep talking about but totally forget to actually write up...

"Pilot"
Young grad student and physics prodigy Quinn Mallory - while attempting to invent an anti-gravity device - accidentally discovers a gateway to parallel dimensions. Curiosity gets the better of him, but his test drive of the gateway goes amiss: stranding him, his physics professor Maximillian Arturo, his friend Wade Welles and innocent bystander Rembrandt Brown on various parallel Earths.

( Verbose rant follows hereCollapse )

Ugh, I really must do something about the length these things tend to get...

Cheers
Tanina
