Oceanscape, bird of the island, abstract

I did this digital manipulation of a pumpkin [just for fun]
for art contest @ FM

So everyone in my life, know that ever since I heard the first Stevie Wonder song at age 12, I loved him.. I would scream & cry everytime his music came on the radio. This love for Stevie and his music continued all through my teen years, and in my 20's I met up with other Stevie Wonder obsessed people, who we exchanged tapes of his songs, I would sing along to his music everyday.. So

When I heard Stevie was coming to our little island, and I got 2 tickets to see him.. well!

yep, I was up front to see my Stevie Wonder.. he did some funny stuff there on the stage too.. [we were amazed he could find his way from one part of the stage to get to the piano, without anyone leading him].. He intrtoduced his little son who had his birthday, just turned 10, so we all sang Stevie's "Happy Birthday" song to his little sonny boy. It was a great night.

Sting came as well. [I love Sting's music too man].. and other folks performed on different nights:

It's been a long time. omg.
I believe I have 2 lj accounts, but not updated from way-back-when.

Artwise:
Been busy all this time experimenting in wet paint, with oceanscapes & abstracts mainly.
I just finished 20 abstract paintings and shipped them all off to Florida this week.. [so they're now at an art gallery in Kissimee, FL. and i'm hoping they will sell].

Aside from that, I'm suppose to be finishing an underwater painting with shark, for a known photographer in Europe, but I've had to put it aside until I completed all the abstracts.. now I can proceed with that.

Anyway, even though I don't have the time now to go into all that's been going on in my life since I last updated lj moons ago, i'll just give tidbits..

Sons & life:
*My first son Jamie went off to Europe to study in college! he's doing medical research..
[i'm still trying to cope with his flying the nest] but I know it's for the best of his future.. plus he promised he'll be back after college to live in this place he was born.. [and he'll come visit this coming christmas, and hopefully twice per year for the rest of the college years]. *We skype, and email each other, . so it's not too too bad] I guess. *Then last week he got a shocking experience of dissecting his first [human cadaver] in class].. like woah, I can just imagine. Anyway, i'm looking forward to his holiday visit in december.

*My second son, has his last HS year now, and he also wants to go off to Europe to study medical stuff.
*My third son is only 14 years old, but you know, time-is-flying-way-too-darn-fast. [he's not sure what he'll study, but gosh I dont' even want to think about the empty-nest... it's life, but life is a difficult thing.

Anyway that's all the update I can manage at this time, ... i'll check what's up with your sides, and will say hi..

Pencil & Graphite Powder

So dear diary, i'm on a roll..
I've put aside seascape paintings for now, and back to pencil drawings [i've missed it, and it's my favourite thing to draw faces].

Being that i'm used to drawing in pencils [plus digitally],
i'm just now practicing to use the wet media to paint faces- [in this case, with acrylics].. I'm getting closer in figuring out the process that's better for me, and so far I find that I prefer to first do an underpainting, then follow up with smearing paint on top with my fingers, and brushes too.. haha.. [i'm going towards a more painterly, rough, abstracted look].. The only thing is that I find it not so easy to get an accurate likeness of the subject,..
So the next time around, i'll first do a grisaille drawing in watercolor pencils, then after i'm satisfied that it looks close enough to the subject, then i'll start with the painting.
