I lost my big sister a little over two weeks ago, on January 29. She committed suicide. For us who loved her it came as a complete shock. We knew she was depressed and all, but we didn't know it was THAT bad. Her husband even told us afterwards that, after reviewing some photos, that Sis hadn't been truly smiling on any picture taken January and December. And even though she did smile, it never really reached her eyes. We have our theories on what drove Sis to killing herself and we all wish she had asked for help, but she was VERY good at concealing what she actually felt, always had been, and once she had set her mind on something she rarely backed down until she'd seen it through. Well, hopefully she's happy now.

On top of it all, I also lost my beloved cat Lukas just a couple of days ago. When Mom and I went to stay with my brother-in-law for a couple of days he seemed fine, but when I came back home he had lost several pounds, barely ate, walked stiffly and preferred to just lie on my desk and sleep. I took him to the vet who said it was his kidneys, and it was so far gone that there was nothing to do other than put Lukas out of his misery. I'm so mad that I hadn't noticed anything before, but a least he isn't suffering anymore.

Welcome to losingalovedone .

This is the community for everyone who has lost a loved one. It is first and foremost a place to come and talk if the one you loved has died, but everyone who feels they have lost a loved one for whatever reason is of course welcome.

This is a place where you can come and vent your feelings of losing someone, share stories and memories, and give support and lend an ear to others in the same situation. Here we also don't differ between losing a person and losing a pet. Just because the one you lost happened to have four legs and fur, or scales, or feathers, doesn't it mean that your pain is any less.

Rules:

1. Always be respectful to others
2. Do NOT try to diminish someone else's sorrow or pain. Ever.
3. If your entry is long, please put it behind an LJ cut
4. If you are posting a photo, please put it behind an LJ cut, no matter how big it is.

If you have any questions, please post a comment in this post, or any other post tagged mod!post
