You thought I had abandoned you didn't you. So what that I haven't been watching what I eat. So what that I down a 2 liter of Mt Dew a day. So what that I haven't worked out in a week.
The truth is that I am back in this and I am so motivated. Trip? Who the hell cares about a trip? I might have to take my damn clothes off in front of a boy. Talk about motivation.
Especially, since he is super cop. He runs every damn day and happens to have a halfway decent body. Jeez, now that I think about it what the hell is he doing with me? Oh hell, I think that topic is best left for another journal.
Is sex really considered exercise?

Day 15 and counting... [Aug. 22nd, 2006|02:01 pm]

I found this on the web today; it is a response from a fitness trainer to a woman's question concerning the fastest way to flatten her stomach----"You can do all the situps you want but diet is the most important thing in attaining flatter stomach. One thing I would suggest is to make sure you are eating complex carbs such as brown rice, whole grain breads etc. Also, eat 5 or 6 small meals a day every 3 hours that do not exceed 500 calories (any more than that, your body will store it as fat). This way, your blood glucose levels stay balanced and your body will use each meal as energy. When you eat 3 large meals per day, your body doesn't know what to do with the excess, so it just stores it as fat. You may also want to cut down on your consumption of rice...I am Filipino and I love rice but one concession I've made is when I do eat rice, I eat brown rice and only at lunchtime, not at night. I don't want to assume you're Asian because you eat Asian food but we do have a tendency to have a 'rice belly' as we eat a lot of rice! Substitute your rice with veggies at dinner (try not to eat too many carbs at night). Keep up your cardio as it is an excellent way to burn fat especially in the abdominal area; maybe increase the intensity; women require higher intensity workouts in order to burn fat; men require longer workouts. Try harder hills for your hikes; try for a faster time when you're swimming; As for your situps, don't give up!!! Try different kinds of exercises....check out the internet for some good exercises. Your body may be used to the things you're doing now so it's not working so hard...unfortunately, the body strives not to work hard so it adapts easily! It's good that you're drinking lots of water of course as when you exercise, your body releases toxins which can accumulate. you may also want to take up weights as that is the best way to increase your resting metabolic rate. Cardio will burn fat in the short term but muscle burns more fat when you're at rest. I hope this helps"

Now as for my personal contribution to this journey we have agreed to undertake...I just came back from running 1 mile in fifteen minutes. I have to confess that at ten minutes I began to believe I was having a heart attack and to be honest I am not sure that I didn't have one. However, I managed to make it back to my desk and I feel much better all over. For my efforts I have lost 6 pounds. It isn't much but it puts me on target with my dr's advice and so I am happy with my loss.
Today I had honey nut cheerios for breakfast better than the fried egg, ham and cheese sandwhich I usually have but not as good as the oatmeal, fresh peaches and cream I had yesterday. I really need to concentrate on getting to bed earlier so that I can get up on time,

Breakfast: bowl of oatmeal, cup of fresh melon and cup of coffee.

Lunch: steamed vegetables, baked chicken, mac & cheese (couldn't resist)

Dinner: I am thinking it will be tuna salad with some kind of fruit...

I have consumed 64oz water already today and I have not eaten any cakes, cookies, candy or soda.

On my lunch break I did the eliptical machine for fifteen minutes and the treadmill for thirty. I have decided to alternate the weight machines Mon, Wed and Fri.

I'm dreading quitting smoking.

Hark! The vanilla frosty has arrived... [Aug. 14th, 2006|01:26 pm]

So the whole diet thing is a lot harder than I talked myself into believing. I love carbs. In fact, right this minute I am eating chicken and dumplings which i am sure is not on the approved list of foods to eat but it is good. And later, later I have a rendevous with Woody to get the much anticipated vanilla frosty and no one can stop me!
My carb addiction aside I just came back from working out. I even went by myself because my work out partner bailed out on me. Which reminds me...Mom, UC is sponsoring ballroom dancing at Winfield High School this semester. Beginner classes start 9/11/06 at 7:15pm (I have to double check the time) in the cafeteria for $10 per class per week and the class runs six weeks. I am going to go if you are interested in joining me.

I need to get back to work.

Later days!

I have determined that it isn't the actual working out that I hate but rather the pain that follows. I have a work out buddy at work to motivate me but it will be tough at first to keep going everyday.

Katie's new meatball recipe is the bomb! Kelly, you should get it from her and try it.

I want to try these:

Mini eggplant pizzas
1 eggplant - 3 inches in diameter, peeled and cut into 4 half-inch thick slices
4 teaspoons olive oil
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/4 cup pasta sauce
4 ounces Canadian bacon (optional)
1/2 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

DIRECTIONS:
Preheat the oven or toaster oven to 425 degrees F. Brush both sides of the eggplant with the oil and season with the salt and pepper. Arrange on a baking sheet and bake until browned and almost tender, 6 to 8 minutes, turning once. Spread 1 tablespoon of pasta sauce on each eggplant slice. Top, if desired, with the Canadian bacon (optional) and shredded cheese. Bake until the cheese melts, 3 to 5 minutes. Serve hot.
