Hey- I'm new to the community, just moved to Mount Pearl from Halifax.
I spent the last few years in Corner Brook for school, and while there was a queer presence at Grenfell- we started a Queer/Straight Alliance, had movie nights, etc- it was mostly a quiet, keep-your-head-down sort of thing. Now that I'm attending the MUN campus in St. John's I'm a little curious: is there a stronger queer scene at MUN proper than in Grenfell as far as organizations and events go, or even just in St. John's in general? I'm getting to the point where I'd like to be more active in the community, but I'm not sure where to start.

Hi everyone!
I was so looking foreward to being a part of Pride week this year, but unfortunatly it's not to be. I'm not getting back to St. John's until August 16th.
So if anyone has the time to post pictures or even send me some of the events and things that are happening I would really love it. I'd hate to totally miss out on everything completely. Stories, pictures, anything of the sort of what happens over the next week would be awsome.

I am coming to St. Johns from the 17-24 august to try out for the Newfoundland womens hockey team that goes to nationals. My things is i am from Labrador and currently in school in PEI, so i do not have a place to stay in st. johns...so does anyone out there in LiveJournal land know of some really cheap places i could stay. As well i have never hung out in St. Johns before so i well be looking for fun things to do during that week since the hockey camp is just the weekend.

Is there any activism stuff going on in St John's these days? I want to do stuff when I get back to school in the fall - like go into schools and talk to kids about being gay and promoting tolerance of diverstiy and creating warm fuzzies wherever I go.
any ideas? (besides ngale and lgbt-mun, or are they the only two organizations in town?)
