it really is when harry met sally. all over again. | | Monday, April 25th, 2011 | | 1:50 am |
*sigh* yep. Twitterpatted and I totally didn't mean to be... Tried not to, even. And tried harder...whell... maybe it'll work out.......... | | Monday, July 19th, 2010 | | 8:36 pm |
I'll be fine.
I had myself a good cry in the car on the way home, which continued for about an hour while I talked to Harrison and begged him to come home from work and let me cry to him. He couldn't, which is good because then I made myself get over it quicker. I cried for a little while longer, ate some ice cream and then I just...stopped. I sent out the emails to the companies that have been waiting for me to respond letting them know that I'd finally heard. And then I looked on some job websites that I frequently check. 1 had a last minute posting that I might end up doing this weekend. And I checked the website of the theatre that just rejected me...not the branch that I got the rejection from, but another branch (the one that handles all of the broadway touring shows) is looking for a company manager. I asked the guy I got the rejection email from to send an email to them on my behalf, if he knew anyone over there. I'm hoping that that pans out in some way...I'm upset, but I know that everything happens for a reason. That something better must be coming a long and that I have to keep the faith. | | Thursday, July 8th, 2010 | | 1:19 pm |
*sigh*
I really need this job... It would be amazing if I didn't have to wait tables for 9 months...I really need to be an adult, I need to move on. | | Thursday, July 1st, 2010 | | 8:04 pm |
uhhh...
If Theatre A does not take me (full time, really nice pay package, theatre where I interned and lovelovelove), then Theatres B and C both want me and theatre D will let me freelance there and teach classes and whatnot. How is this happening? I finally will get to stop waiting tables. I'm so happy I could cry. | | Monday, June 14th, 2010 | | 6:53 pm |

2 of my bosses are resigning for next season. I submitted my resume for consideration to become a part of the company on the stage management team...here's to hoping. I really, really don't want to go back to waiting tables full time... | | Sunday, March 28th, 2010 | | 11:14 pm |
progress
so far on my quest I have donated to 5 charities, saved my $250 dollars plus an additional $200 for the month of March and gotten halfway through a book that I own but haven't read yet. Not a bad first few days... | | Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 | | 10:55 pm |
25 by 25
I decided recently that I don't do enough to motivate my life further than just my career. Plus there is a lot of stuff that I haven't done that I really want to do...so here it is...25 by 25: The definitive list of things that Katrina wants to do before she turns 25. 25 by 25 1. Lose 25 pounds 2. Do St. Baldricks and donate the hair I cut off 3. Read 25 books I already own and have not read 4. Donate $$ to 25 charities-II (means I've already donated to 2 charities) 5. Save $250 a month 6. Take a photoshop or excel class 7. Get another tattoo 8. Do Reagan's 30 plays in 30 days 9. Go 25 days without facebook 10. Go to the Dentist every 6 months-I (means I've already gone to the dentist once for this six month period, for first time in over ten years) 11. Stop waiting tables full time 12. Visit three states I've never been to before 13. Get Health insurance 14. Buy a new (used) car 15. Buy a bike and ride it as much as possible, hopefully to work. 16. learn 5 songs on guitar really well 17. Take a glass pendant making class 18. spend 1 day completely unplugged with Harrison 19. Make 25 meals for friends 20. Volunteer for 25 hours 21. It must be a sign stamped on my forehead...weirdos only please.
I wish I could make this stuff up but I can't. A man just came to my door in sweats to sell me the paper. Being that it's Saturday and I don't work until four I am still in my pajamas. He starts going into his schpeel about "her" and having extra papers and how I should just do a year of Sundays for $9 because I'll get $250 of coupons. I tell him 3 separate times that the paper would go to waste because we just wouldn't read it and it would waste trees and be a waste of money. Then he starts telling me about how the paper carrier needs me to pay this $9 and blahblahblah. And I tell him a fourth time that it would go unread because I read the news online. He then proceeds to tell me that we're all "red blooded americans who eat apple pie and celebrate Christmas and that reading the paper on the internet doesn't pay anyone's salary" and goes to the next house. *sigh* When I flew out of Detroit on Tuesday I waited in line outside at the e-kiosk for 25 minutes to check in and get my suitcase checked. It was about negative eighty-four and everyone around me had between 3 and 4 bags, mostly golf clubs and skiing equipment. I finally get up to the counter and the label maker prints out my baggage tag and the guy puts my tag on and then says "I'll take care of this for you ma'am" I said "thank you." and he repeats "I'll take care of this bag for you ma'am." "Thank you." "taking care of the bag, ma'am" "ok...is there something else I'm supposed to do?" "You could TIP me ma'am." I just looked at him in shock. I've worked in a tipping industry for almost 9 years and I've never ever ever asked someone for a tip. I told him as I was walking away that I had no cash, which wasn't exactly true. I did have some cash stuffed at the bottom of one of my bags but like hell was I going to dig around after being yelled at for not tipping him when I saw no other passengers tipping save one older guy who checked a gigantic bag of expensive golf clubs. So why yell at me then? Rude. Oh. And when I got back to Denver my suitcase had a lovely broken wheel. I guess he "took care of it" as promised. I don't understand. If I'm paying $15 to check my suitcase, I'm supposed to pay more on top of that for you to put a label on my bag? I mean, I guess I have to now or my suitcase will arrive with one wheel. But really? Really sir? Crazy people, I tell you. Crazy. | | Thursday, November 26th, 2009 | | 9:38 pm |
Can I have a dog now?
The theatre I work for lets all of it's employees bring dogs to work every day. How cool is that? Every hall I walk down has some cute little fluff ball just waiting for me to scratch their ears and give them a cookie. How can any day be bad when you get to do that AND make theatre every day. | | Tuesday, November 24th, 2009 | | 10:25 pm |
I really need this job.
please, please, please, please. I am qualified. I gave a great interview. I am so tired of waiting tables. I need this job. I need to know that I'm going in the right direction, doing the right thing. I need the money, but it's not about the money. I want to be able to walk into the place I've been interning at for the past 2 months and know that it was all worth it. I mean, I know that it was all worth it, but I'd like substantial proof. I have the job. I have. the job. I have. to. have. the job. Please. | | Tuesday, July 7th, 2009 | | 12:10 am |
Disappointment
Guess you can't avoid it. Human beings are probably the biggest source of disappointment on this earth and damn that sucks because they had a lot of potential too. I could give some harsh words too, though I wouldn't no where to start because I don't think that that's fair either. Unfortunately, you can't stop people from talking about you behind your back any more than you can stop the sky from falling around those same people when they suddenly have a crisis. I mean, if fun is going to be had at my expense, I truly hope that it was worth it and that every laugh you got meant more than any kind of friendship I ever offered to you. Just remember that whether you like it or not, these things get back to whoever you're talking about and that it's disappointing as hell to know that someone you consider a friend hosts somewhat of a roast of you and your significant other. I never really hoped to learn the hard way that whoever will gossip to you will gossip about you. Ah well, on ward and upwards. Hope you find someone new to roast because we can't be that interesting to talk about. | | Tuesday, June 30th, 2009 | | 10:41 am |
Bank of America...
I hate you. When I close my account...I want it closed FOR reALZ. Not like...hey let's reopen this shit and see what happens. Like. Close it. And leave it closed. And let me close it WHEN I FUCKING WANT TO CLOSE IT. Don't tell me this three business days shit but then reopen it and not tell me and let someone charge money onto it. That's just stupid. And get some new customer service people. You know, ones who can actually do things besides tell me that my account is closed but then ten days later tell me they don't know why my account is open again but that they have to still charge me. Yeah...die in a fire. I hate you. Raging bulls. I want my time back for spending it on the phone with you douchebags. | | 12:25 am |
Uncollected thoughts
I just got done watching Hair. Movies about war/people who are affected by war/etc always make me tense. Like tense for a few days tense. Weird. I get worried that all of a sudden massive destructive war is going to break out tomorrow and everyone I know will have to enlist in the army. Actually, three people I know are which is weird...I already have too many friends in the army or national guard or navy or marine corps or whatever. Just freaks me out. I've been in Colorado for a month now. Weird. They're redoing harrison and i's roof right now and his dad is coming to visit this weekend. These are two completely unrelated events but whatever. I really miss having friends close by. I feel like this past year has been one of the loneliest of my life thus far (so long at 23 I know...) but at the same time I can't help but hope that this year will be infinitely better. I'd like to make some friends. Good, real and true friends who I can spend time with out here. Part of me will always ache for the friends I've left behind but I know that if I want to get anywhere with my career or with my relationship with Harrison...this is where I need to be right now. Speaking of career...I'm doing well out here, getting everything planned for the fall. I've got three offers so far with one more on the way at least. The first and most exciting is an internship with The Denver Center. Pretty big deal. Non-paying except in season tickets but worth it in experience. I got an offer with The Vintage Theatre Company that I will probably have to turn down for the time being because it would overlap with the rest of the offers and the pending offer on the table. I'll most likely be working with the Boulder International Fringe Festival for the month of August...crazy...I love it here. My job is...alright. It's waiting tables, which is waiting tables which is waiting tables. I've started rock climbing every other day. I have my own climbing gear and everything...weird. I'm also cooking again, we made Coconut milk curry with shrimp, eggplant, bell peppers, bamboo shoots, rice noodles, sugar peas, broccoli and every other delicious vegetable you can think of and we're still eating it four days later. Plus avocados were on sale at walmart for 50 cents each...you better believe we bought 32...I love avocados... I do love that I can see the rockies from my bedroom porch. I do love that so very very much... But I do miss home too...Ahh well...such is life...I'm trying to read every day, something besides the news and the internet which is something I forgot to do since I graduated college. Oh and watch movies that were made for people above the age of 13. Yeah...Oh. and Write. I've been (pretending I know) writing. Sort of. Just when I get an idea. I need a computer... | | Tuesday, June 9th, 2009 | | 10:29 pm |
back in the saddle
so i've made it to colorado, found a place to live and a job. woohoo. go me. anyways. here are my thoughts: Why does everyone bitch about the economy so much? as if bitching will change anything, or talking about how there are "no jobs" and "no money out there" right now. Right. Exactly. Let's create a little bit more of an excuse for you. Sound good? Awesome. Let's blame it all on the presidents. Past, present and future. Hey, how about on the cost of education these days? Cool. There's one more reason that your life sucks. Get off your ass. Start making things happen and quit bitching. It doesn't solve anything. Sorry...I'm just tired of the nation's attitude as a whole. | | Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 | | 9:32 am |
ask and ye shall receive.
I went from having no one wanting to see the apartment to having a dozen people wanting to see the apartment in just a couple hours. Life is awesome. I'm gonna get to keep my money! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! |
