How about an 800hp Toyota 2JZ in a Nissan 180SX?
Our new mechanic has a Nissan 180SX. It was formidable with the T04 SR20 but marty wanted a bit more. He instaled a 800hp Toyota 2JZ full of top name internal such as forged rods and pistons, bearings and gaskets, cams and gears, veilside 4" plenum with 8 750cc injectors, trust GT80 turbo and HKS 100mm cooler, microtech computer, triple plate clutch bolted to a supra 6 speed, and heading towards the back we have a modified GTR diff. A custom alloy foam filled fuel tank fitted with a few thousand dollars of anodized alloy ends and braided hoses, linked to fuel pumps and regulators. The whole car has been seam welded and a full roll cage made from cromemolly added. Im getting too excited so im just going to post pictures now.

How much of a monster does this engine look in the 180SX engine bay?

Today we look at installing an aftermarket computer.

The car we are working on today is a 2002 Nissan Silvia S15 Spec R that runs mid 12 second quarter mile's. The computer we are installing is an Apexi Power FC with hand held controller.

First things first.. Disconect the battery.

Next remove the sill scuff panel, and passenger kick panel. Then carefully remove the factory computer and unplug it from its harness.

This is the one bolt holding the harness into the computer.

This is the very sexy Apexi Power FC computer module. It simply fits in the place of the factory item.

This is the hand held controller that comes with the Power FC module. It has very simple keys but the features they control are complete in management over the engine.

Simply slot and bolt the new module to the harness.

Connect the Hand controler lead.

Reconnect the battery.

Upload the base setting map for the type of car and air flow meter ect.

Re fit the computer module to the mount and then run the hand held controller cable under the carpet towards the center console and mount the hand controller there with the supplied cradle. Then fit the kick panel and scuff panels and your ready to start fine tuning.

Be realistic here. HAving full control over the engine management is serious. It is possible to seriously damage the motor.

Stay tuned!

All things are go for the GTO race car.
Work will be started on it tomorrow. First on the list is stripping it all out and then seam welding everything together. Then is fabrication of the roll cage.

Stay tuned.

It has been exactly 1 year since the last post in this community. First let me apologize. The lack of camera is mostly to blame. The work load at the workshop has been strong, and we have done some insane jobs for our customers. Such as hi-po CA18 into a gemini, SR20 into another gemini. RB26 into silvia, Toyota quad cam v8 into land cruiser.
We now have a new camera and we should be posting up new articles very soon. We are currently In the middle of a few projects. SR20 into old school corolla, and big power RB25 into silvia. We have purchased a early 1990's Mitsubishi GTO to turn into a full blown race car which will be more than fun!

Stay tuned..

Featured soon is a Gemini with a CA18 transplant.

And also a HKS 700hp turbo conversion on a R32 GTR.

What do you do when a big turbo on a CA18 isnt fast enough? In this case, the transplant of a RB20 6 cylinder was the answer!

This car will also be fitted with brake from a R34 Skyline for extra stoping power and legality.

The fittment is as easy as dropping the motor in, with the adition of a crossmember from a R32 GTST. This is the last thing you would see if you were run over by a silvia with no engine!

This is the donor motor. Cris is using his hand so you can compare it to the turbo. Is is a nice hand alright. The turbo is a T4, connected to a full HKS Setup. Note the external waste gate. The turbo is rated at about 400hp.

The kinder suprise bonus of obtaining an used motor is the chance of getting something already modded. Note the balancing marks in the crankshaft.

Here is the Silvia. Waiting. It craves its new engine! It almost looks sad without it.

It's almost comic like watching this motor go in. Steave manipulates the engine while Cris lowers it down with the high costing speciality device called a forklift :P

With the engine sitting on the mounts. It's a tight fit. Less than an inch between motor and firewall, and about 6 inches for a radiator and a fan. Damn that engine needs a clean!

This car has been crowned king of the wheel spin, in anticipation of its new powerplant.(edit) Its the law to drink crownies when working on car's in northgate.

The engine is in. The first part is over. Next week we start of with the next stages. Bolting in the gearbox from a R32 GTST, and a shortened tail shaft. Instaling new brakes and conecting up the pipes and the wiring.

Stay Tuned!
