This May Be Old News:
...but, I couldn't not post when I read it. Have you read this?Am I the only one who was more than a little shocked? The best comment to the article though was this from Jeffery Weatherford: Headline, Oxford Alabama, August 5, 2059: Controversial Old Sam’s Club Building Demolished
Considered an old city eyesore, demolition crews finally removed the old Sam’s Club Building within the city. City leaders welcomed the building’s removal as well as members from the chamber of commerce who stated that the unsightly and crumbling 50 year old utility building actually sat on the site were an historic Native American Indian mound was once located. Many of Oxford’s community leaders and residents expressed sadness when they learned that Leon Smith, mayor at the time when the building was erected, was responsible for destroying one of our community’s historic treasures which was estimated to be over 1500 years old… Current Mood: numb | | Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009 | 11:24 am [masquerader317]

Newbie
Hello! We just moved to Huntsville from Atlanta. I've lived in big cities my entire live, so moving to the small town has me a little off-kilter. What kinds of things are there to do here? We used to do theater stuff, I'm a musician, we have do have kids, but I'm really trying to find a more alt-scene. I'm a little terrified that there's not much like that here. Any suggestions on where to go to see local happenings? There was Creative Loafing and a bunch of other local circulars in Atlanta to give people a go-to guide for that kind of thing. Is there a similar thing like that here? I'm not even sure what to ask, really. Is there local theater, other than ChittyChittyBangBang? Are there groups and such that don't involve a religious aspect? Any info would be helpful! Thanks!!! x-posted Current Mood: curious | | Tuesday, March 11th, 2008 | 2:25 pm [kristij]

x-posted I'm looking for a bar, club, or restaurant (in either Birmingham/Southside, Hoover, Vestavia, Homewood, Mtn Brook, Pelham, or nearby, you get the idea) With a young crowd (B-day girl will be 23), dancing area (that people actually use), kind of busy/lively on Fridays, ... and maybe a private/VIP area also (but that's not as important) maybe Kareoke too? for an upcoming birthday party that's also kind of a Girls' night out. Any suggestions for a great location would be great Thanks ahead of time for any help :) | | Sunday, August 5th, 2007 | 6:35 pm [ferretsnax]
