Trackpad scrolling feels subtly different from native macOS #415
Trackpad scrolling feels smooth and responsive, but still seems subtly different from native macOS scrolling.
I’m using TryOmarchy on an Apple Silicon Mac M4, and the overall experience is excellent. However, when scrolling through web pages, I notice a subtle difference in how the scrolling motion feels compared to native macOS.
The trackpad itself feels responsive, and the scrolling appears smooth, without obvious stuttering or dropped frames. It doesn’t feel like conventional input lag, but the scrolling motion somehow feels slightly less natural than on macOS.
I’ve noticed this in Chrome, Firefox, and Brave, so it doesn’t appear to be browser-specific.
Steps to reproduce
Open a web page with a substantial amount of content in a browser inside TryOmarchy.
Scroll vertically using the Mac’s built-in trackpad.
Repeat the same action in a native macOS browser and compare the scrolling feel.
The difference is subtle and difficult to describe precisely. I’m not sure whether it relates to scroll delta conversion, momentum handling, frame presentation, or another part of the input pipeline.
