v0.13.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 26 Oct 03:07

v0.13.0 fixes freezes on Intel graphics, offers CPU rendering when GPU rendering never reaches the screen, and lets Win+G reach Omarchy.

Fixes

  • Fix Omarchy freezing on Intel graphics when opening menus or the Hyprland configuration editor with GPU rendering on (#361, #367, #362)
  • When GPU rendering never shows the desktop in the Omarchy window, the launcher now offers CPU rendering after two minutes instead of Automatic picking GPU again on every start (#366, #358)
  • The health check no longer offers Restart while a system package update is still running (#365, #359)
  • Win+G and Win+Alt+G now reach Omarchy's window grouping. Windows' Xbox Game Bar still opens on them too; press Esc to close it (#369, #370, #368)

Dev

  • Build runtime r25 with the Intel buffer upload fixes (#361, #367)
  • Refresh the guest package lock (#371)

Thanks 🙏

  • @Vinluo for tracking down the Intel freeze, fixing it and testing every build on their Arc B390 (#361, #362, #367)
  • @knothhe for the Win+G fix in their first contribution (#369, #368)
  • @AI-Dico for reporting the black window on their RX 6800 XT and the restart prompt during updates (#358, #359)

WINQ-EMU r25 runtime

Choose a tag to compare

@btsouth btsouth released this 22 Oct 21:08
2f5da1b

WINQ-EMU r25 runtime component and corresponding source archives for the next signed Try Omarchy app release. This is not a standalone launcher or a new app version.

Built from the source-locked recipe at commit 2f5da1b (master) in Runtime run 39852529917. SHA256SUMS covers both archives. r25 stops Omarchy freezing on Intel Arc graphics on Windows by uploading buffers without mapping them (#361, thanks @Vinluo), and sends each of those uploads in one call so buffer streaming stays fast (#367).

v0.12.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 22 Oct 00:33

v0.12.1 fixes setup and updates failing on some home networks.

Fixes

  • Fix setup and update downloads failing with "winapi error #12167" on networks where Windows finds a proxy setup server that serves no proxy script, such as Fritz!Box routers and SK Broadband (#356)
  • Finish the Korean translation for Links from Windows and installing updates from downloaded files (#357)

Dev

  • Refresh the guest package lock and give the system image room for it (#363, #364)

Thanks 🙏

  • @AI-Dico for tracking down the proxy failure and fixing it, and for the Korean translation (#356, #357)
  • @Mexican-Judo for confirming it also blocked first setup on a Fritz!Box network (#356)

v0.12.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 14 Oct 04:23

v0.12.0 makes the cursor as smooth as the Windows pointer, keeps Omarchy's network working with many connections open, and lets links clicked in Windows open in Omarchy.

Features

  • Links clicked in Windows can open in an Omarchy app. Allow a link type in Settings > Apps > Links from Windows (#352, #348)
  • Windows now draws the cursor with Omarchy's own shapes, so it stays smooth when the desktop is busy. Existing installs get it after running Update > Omarchy once (#345, #346, #321)
  • When a system update can't download, the launcher keeps retrying while Omarchy runs and gives slow name lookups more time. You can also install it from release files downloaded in your browser, using the tray menu (#344, #277)

Fixes

  • Fix Omarchy's network stopping once more than 64 connections were open, which stalled browsers, package updates and Tailscale until a restart (#347)
  • Fix clicks at the bottom of the screen opening an auto-hidden Windows taskbar in fullscreen. Ctrl+Alt+G still releases the pointer (#330, #320)
  • Fix the window staying larger than the screen after leaving fullscreen with Ctrl+Alt+F (#355)
  • Diagnostics leave out folder paths, account, computer and display names, and private network addresses, so the zip can be shared as is (#350)
  • First setup says the system image is downloading instead of showing "Checking cached rootfs.ext4.zst..." (#351)

Dev

  • Build runtime r24 with the network and cursor fixes (#353)
  • Refresh the guest package lock (#354)
  • Check the guest shell against current Arch and Omarchy packages every day (#343)

Thanks 🙏

WINQ-EMU r24 runtime

Choose a tag to compare

@btsouth btsouth released this 14 Oct 01:33
0debd6f

WINQ-EMU r24 runtime component and corresponding source archives for the next signed Try Omarchy app release. This is not a standalone launcher or a new app version.

Built from the source-locked recipe at commit 0debd6f (master) in Runtime run 38487926153. SHA256SUMS covers both archives. r24 keeps Omarchy's network working when it has more than 64 connections open (#347, thanks @pai-scaffolde), and lets Windows draw the Omarchy cursor so it stays smooth when the desktop is busy (#346, for #321).

v0.11.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 09 Oct 10:25

v0.11.0 makes future updates much smaller, fixes the top bar disappearing after Update > Omarchy, Chinese input methods and a sound menu freeze, and finishes the Korean translation.

This update still downloads the full Omarchy system image (about 1.9 GB) one last time. Updates after this one skip it.

Features

  • Updates no longer download the full Omarchy system image. It is only fetched when you install Omarchy or choose Start fresh, and an interrupted download resumes where it left off (#312)
  • Backups can leave out the system image, and backups to exFAT drives work (#312)
  • Korean now covers the whole launcher (#318)
  • Simplified Chinese wording is polished and covers the tray messages (#327)

Fixes

  • Fix the top bar disappearing and Win+K / Win+Space opening black screens after Update > Omarchy. Installs that already updated are repaired when this version starts (#336)
  • Fix typing and shortcuts not reaching Omarchy while a Windows input method such as Microsoft Pinyin is in Chinese mode (#328)
  • Fix the sound menu freezing Omarchy when Windows has no microphone. Connecting a headset later picks up its microphone (#332)
  • Fix volume sync stopping after choosing VirtIO PCM 0 in Omarchy's sound menu. Omarchy now switches back to the Windows device (#277)
  • Show a tray message when the Omarchy system update cannot be downloaded, instead of failing silently (#277)

Dev

  • Build runtime r23 with the input method and microphone fixes (#334, #338)
  • Refresh the guest package lock to Qt 6.12 (#340)
  • Allow two backports to change the same file (#342)
  • Record volume sync state in diagnostics (#329)
  • Fix a flaky clipboard test on Windows (#337)
  • Add a security policy (#331)

Thanks 🙏

WINQ-EMU r23 runtime

Choose a tag to compare

@btsouth btsouth released this 09 Oct 02:41
00b7bf2

WINQ-EMU r23 runtime component and corresponding source archives for the next signed Try Omarchy app release. This is not a standalone launcher or a new app version.

Built from the source-locked recipe at commit 00b7bf2 (master) in Runtime run 37874254043. SHA256SUMS covers both archives. r23 keeps typing working while a Windows input method such as Microsoft Pinyin is in Chinese mode (#334), and stops the sound menu from freezing Omarchy when Windows has no microphone (#338).

v0.10.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 21:16
63ad7f5

v0.10.1 fixes large images copied from Windows and portable installs on exFAT.

Fixes

  • Fix large images copied from Windows stalling before they reach Omarchy (#319)
  • Fix portable installs on exFAT failing to start after the first launch (#322)

Dev

  • Write release notes as UTF-8 and stop publishing when notes are missing or empty (#319)

v0.10.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 06 Oct 01:17

v0.10.0 brings a faster start, recovery when things go wrong, and a long list of fixes across the clipboard, audio, keyboard, displays and more.

Features

  • Start Omarchy right away. Updates now download in the background while you use it, resume after interruptions, use the Windows proxy settings, and install the next time Omarchy starts, or right away with Restart to update in the tray (#307)
  • Detect when the Omarchy desktop stops responding, save diagnostics, and offer to restart it, in CPU mode if graphics froze. Your session stays open until you choose (#303, #315)
  • Resume cleanly after Windows sleep, or show Resume Omarchy in the tray if it cannot. Restarting or signing out of Windows shuts Omarchy down cleanly first, and the next start offers recovery if that did not finish (#304, #216)
  • Keep volume and mute in sync between Omarchy and Windows, including playback device changes. Turn off Sync volume with Windows in Settings to control them separately (#292, #277)
  • Night light now warms the VM display from the existing menu and keyboard shortcut (#289)
  • Warn when Omarchy's Windows drive is running low or almost full, with guidance for Reclaim and moving the data in Settings (#291)
  • CPU rendering mode now really limits the processor features Omarchy sees (#306)
  • PowerToys and AutoHotkey can see the Win key while Omarchy runs (#306)
  • Follow your Windows display language, plus Dvorak, US-International and Turkish F layouts (#296)

Fixes

  • Fix GPU mode freezing on NVIDIA graphics when Media Player opens, and GTK4 apps such as Files crashing (#276, #293)
  • Fix notification popups not appearing in Omarchy. They stay hidden while the screen is locked (#298)
  • Fix images copied in Windows arriving in Omarchy shifted by a few pixels (#315)
  • Fix clipboard sync stalling during large file copies, retry copies made while Windows is busy, and support more image formats (#299)
  • Fix file drops when the launcher runs as administrator, explain rejected drops, and bring the tray icon back when Explorer starts late (#301)
  • Fix VM windows opening on the wrong monitor or at the wrong size, returning them on screen after a monitor is unplugged (#297)
  • Fix Omarchy refusing to start when a saved LAN adapter is missing or a forwarded port is in use. Only the affected forwards pause (#288, #302)
  • Keep moved installations working after a drive letter change, and allow finishing an interrupted uninstall safely (#300)
  • Fix keys staying held after a dropped connection, AltGr+End sending Ctrl+Alt+Delete, and the two Win keys not working independently (#294)
  • Fix the Windows key getting stuck after switching between Windows and Omarchy (#293)
  • Fix cameras stopping on format changes, and one unreadable audio device hiding the others (#295)
  • Report battery state more reliably, including multiple batteries (#296)
  • Apply Resources, Graphics, displays and the shared folder settings when Omarchy restarts, as Settings promises (#293)
  • Fix scrolling Settings changing dropdown values (#293)
  • Fix Update > Omarchy flashing a configuration error banner while it installs (#305)
  • Fix Omarchy updates failing on systems whose first-time setup was interrupted (#317)
  • Fix slow first starts after an update being stopped and retried before the runtime finished loading (#314)
  • Tighten security: the camera, audio and clipboard bridges accept only Omarchy's own connection, the LAN firewall helper only adds rules for Omarchy, and uninstall refuses folders that are not Try Omarchy data folders (#293, #299)

Dev

  • Build runtime r22 from source, with CPU-mode limits and the Windows keyboard hook changes (#306)
  • Refresh the guest package lock (#311, #316)
  • Add the v0.10.0 changelog and release preparation (#308, #310)

Thanks 🙏
