    hi,
    Can I have your distro, graphical environment, display technology, and terminator version?
    I only tested it on Wayland, and my 2 computers (with this bug) use the same linux configuration

    Would be nice to have a stack trace, to know where it crashes (whether in Terminator itself or some lower layer).

    GNOME Terminal disabled dragging a tab out of its window because it used to crash somewhere deep inside Gtk. Gtk devs then added some fix which stopped it from crashing most of the time, but according to my vague memories from a decade ago, I could still find some corner case to get it crash occasionally, and unfortunately they didn't care about spending more time in fixing those crashes, so it's probably still unfixed in Gtk 3 (otherwise we should really re-enable that feature).

    GNOME Terminal commit 1 and commit 2 might link to relevant further info.

    Thanks – I'm sure Matt will take a closer look (he's Terminator's developer, not me), but a quick glance suggests that it indeed crashes somewhere deep down in Gtk. Which could still mean that Terminator is somehow using Gtk incorrectly, but also could mean that there's a bug in Gtk.

    @evakhoni

    Just reproduced "accidently" 🤦 on fedora 43 KDE. happens kinda intermediately in my system, seems to be dependent on where you are dragging it to, as if it tries to paste it.

    on a side note, I can't seem to find a way to drag a window back into being a tab. is there any way doing so? I would be thankful if anyone knows how.
