Ghostty 1.3 Translation Tracking Issue #10632

Closed

Description

@trag1c

Important

Please also read the pinned comment.

This issue tracks the status of translations for the upcoming release in March. The task list below serves as a coverage checklist; this time, all locales listed below are missing the same 11 strings. =)

Missing translations are not a release blocker, but the goal is to have as many locales updated as possible. Localization team members are pinged as a heads-up, but anyone can contribute and review translations.

The last few people apparently didn't get pinged (according to GitHub's UI), so a cautionary second ping: @danulqua @pluiedev @PeterDaveHello @pan93412 @charliie-dev.

We have some discrepancy in the strings:

    #: src/apprt/gtk/class/surface.zig:1109
    msgid "Command Succeeded"
    msgstr ""

    #: src/apprt/gtk/class/surface.zig:1110
    msgid "Command Failed"
    msgstr ""

    #: src/apprt/gtk/class/surface_child_exited.zig:109
    msgid "Command succeeded"
    msgstr "..."

    #: src/apprt/gtk/class/surface_child_exited.zig:113
    msgid "Command failed"
    msgstr "..."

Should we resolve this first or should we just duplicate the translations?

All of these are used as titles so they should both be capitalized.

Just a small note that English is the exception in capitalising all words in titles (excl. articles), and that when translating, you should stick to the orthographic conventions of the language (e.g. Irish/French/Spanish capitalise only the first word, German capitalises all nouns etc)

Correct, but I was specifically referring to the English versions of those strings. Since all four instances were used as titles, they should have been capitalized identically in English. Other languages should of course stick to the conventions of their language.
