What do you want to change?

I want to add on to the functionality added in #10280 and mentioned in #10108

I just want a simple toggle in the configuration to completely hide the handle

Why do you want to make this change?

Largely because it bothers me, and seems to bother others. #10108

The change is not very important/critical, but I'm interested in contributing, and figured why not start with something that's bothering me personally?
