Kinetic scrolling buggy on trackpads (vouch request) #11460
What do you want to change?Hey, I'm a big Zig fan and I think I have something small but impactful for Ghostty linux users. I have an issue with scrolling on my thinkpad trackpad running Fedora 42 where after I release the trackpad scrolling actually accelerates and blows by the logs I wanted to read. You can see some discussion at the end of 7284 about this. I'm pretty sure the issue is GTK kinetic scrolling, which I was able to disable with this: main...viruslobster:ghostty:disable-trackpad-kinetic-scroll Opus 4.5 generated that code, I don't know much about GTK. I really tried to get it to edit Why do you want to make this change? The current scrolling behavior makes the terminal pretty difficult to use. I don't think anyone would want this behavior and I'm guessing most don't see it because they are using ghostty on macos (which doesn't use GTK, right?). I acknowledge that:

Moving this to issue triage. |
Ha! I might have figured out why we're seeing different behavior.
TL;DR There's a scrolling change to the dynamically linked libgtk of which I've got an older version.
If I'm right folks who can't repro are on 4.20.1 or newer.
Longer version:
GtkEventControllerScroll emits a decelerate signal on scroll end if the kinetic flag is enabled (1, 2). I can verify this by connecting a callback to the decelerate signal in Ghostty:
