Vouch Request for Austin Drummond #11061
What do you want to change?I would like to implement Tabs in QuickTerminal. I have a PR out there since last December that builds off this PR. I fixed all the issues found in the original PR, but also took the code to meet my level of expectation of quality (drag and drop) and keeping QuickTerminal tab features consistent with Ghostty features added for normal macOS tabs. Why do you want to make this change?I have long desired having tabs in the QuickTerminal view. I would like their capabilities to match normal windowed tabs as closely as possible. This has been a critical setup for me, and I have been loving this setup. I used this feature a long time ago in iTerm, but there was some quirks the led me away from iTerm. I have been rolling my own quick terminal tabs setup using Terminal.app and Prompt.app, combined with BetterTouchTool and Shortcuts. This was painful. I have experimented with Ghostty since its 1.0 release. I followed the repo closely for QuickTerminal features, and noticed #8469. I noticed a lot of the same issues originally reported on the PR, but also noticed my own, such as holding down cmd+t for awhile to create hundreds of tabs, and then holding down cmd+w to close them. I have a background in building iOS apps with UIKit (and dabbled with AppKit) with both Obj-C and Swift. I had switched away to other project types over the years, and never made the full plunge back into SwiftUI. I do understand declarative UIs (like React) and followed along with a lot of the APIs released over the years to help make SwiftUI better (such as Combine). This is my first Zig project, but my focus was only on the macOS/Swift areas of the codebase. This also resolves this issue, as well. I noticed the AI Usage Policy was implemented after I opened the PR, so I went back and edited the original description on my PR to disclose AI usage. I acknowledge that:
