feat(github): Prefix release titles with the workspace tag prefix - #926
Merged
Merged
Conversation
Release workspaces namespace tags with tagPrefix, but GitHub release titles came from the bare changelog heading, so products in one repository could publish identically titled releases. Replace the leading version in the heading with the prefixed tag when a workspace is selected. Co-Authored-By: BYK <burak.kaya@sentry.io>

Release workspaces add
tagPrefixto tags (cli@0.2.0), but the GitHub release title came from the bare changelog heading (0.2.0). That meant two products in the same repo could publish releases with the same title, which is confusing in the releases list and in notifications. Now, when a workspace is selected and the changelog heading starts with the version, the GitHub target swaps that version for the prefixed tag:
0.2.0→cli@0.2.00.2.0 - Hotfix→cli@0.2.0 - HotfixSpring Release) stay as they are.The changelog entry is still looked up by the bare version. Releases outside workspaces don't change, even if they set
tagPrefix. That way single-product repos usingtagPrefix: vwon't start gettingv1.2.3titles.There's no opt-out. I can add one if someone needs it.
Checks
vitest run src/targets/__tests__/github.test.ts: 41 passed. The new tests cover the workspace prefix, extra heading text, non-version headings, no workspace, and no changeset.pnpm lint, tsc --noEmit,prettier --check: clean.pnpm test: 16 failures inprepare-dry-run.e2e.test.tsandgit.test.ts. They also fail on unmodifiedmasterin this sandbox, because a Git author identity hook rejects the test commits. They aren't related to this change.via BYK.
