Open

Description

@ryan65

Regarding the old pr in 5.0.5
PR: #11756
this pr caused fluentd to fail , until we specifically configure Retain_Metadata_In_Forward_Mode to false in our config file.
...logs - 026-10-21 06:19:31 +0000 [warn]: #1 skip invalid event:.....
Will appreciate if in future any mismatches with fluentd will be mentioned in the version Release notes.
Thanks.

    We already sent a PR to recover the compatibility to Fluentd repo here:
    fluent/fluentd#5411

    But the core development team still refuses to release this feature on their stable version.
    Could you open an issue with more detailed explanations?

    Besides, even if specifying Retain_Metadata_In_Forward_Mode as On, this behavior should be considered as a bug so I'll take a look.

    Hi @cosmo0920
    Just to clarify , I see your pr was merged into fluentd master , does that mean that in 1.20 fluentd can work both ways ?

    Yes, Fluentd v1.20 will support the both of the format of forward protocol v1.5 but the core developer still refuse to release v1.2.0.
    I have no idea why.
