Problematic dependency of fluent-bit-5.1.3 rpm on libpq.so.private16-5 #12573

Open

Description

Bug Report

Describe the bug
RHEL 10 (and hence derivatives) now have Postgres 18 available as an alternative to the default of 16. See
https://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/rhel-app-streams-life-cycle#rhel10_application_streams

https://packages.fluentbit.io/almalinux/10/fluent-bit-5.1.3-1.x86_64.rpm will not install on RHEL 10 if Postgres 18 is installed.

To Reproduce

[root@foo:production:~]$ head -2 /etc/os-release
NAME="Red Hat Enterprise Linux"
VERSION="10.2 (Coughlan)"
[root@foo:production:~]$
[root@foo:production:~]$ rpm -qa | grep postgres
postgresql18-private-libs-18.6-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql18-18.6-1.el10_2.x86_64

postgresql18-contrib-18.6-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql18-docs-18.6-1.el10_2.x86_64
[root@foo:production:~]$ rpm -qa | grep fluent-bit

[root@foo:production:~]$

Expected behavior
That the rpm installs.

Additional context
The rpm installs if the default version of Postgres, 16, is installed.

[root@bar:production:~]$ head -2 /etc/os-release
NAME="Red Hat Enterprise Linux"
VERSION="10.2 (Coughlan)"
[root@bar:production:~]$ rpm -qa | grep fluent-bit
fluent-bit-5.1.3-1.x86_64
[root@bar:production:~]$ rpm -qa | grep postgres
postgresql-odbc-16.00.0000-5.el10.x86_64
postgresql-private-libs-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql-server-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql-pltcl-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql-contrib-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64
postgresql-docs-16.15-1.el10_2.x86_64

The problem doesn't exist with 5.1.2 as the rpm doesn't require libpq.so.private16-5.

mike@zem:~>rpm -qi --requires https://packages.fluentbit.io/almalinux/10/fluent-bit-5.1.2-1.x86_64.rpm | grep libpq
