| 04:19 pm - oh and one more thing... i read about do me bad things having a harvest festival, and thought it was an ace idea.
basically the band played a gig, with any profits going to charity, and asked everyone to bring food items, like we used to at school, as well as the usual tombola/cake stall stuff, and then made up hampers for local elderly people.
obviously as harvest festival time is almost upon us, it's a little late for this year, but i thought it might be a fun idea to keep in mind for next september :)

 | 04:47 pm - FYI I saw a...erm...show on Saturday featuring a very interesting act from Derby called Creature. I thought it would suit an FYR gig quite well.
Picture a television, a guy with an electronica backing track, 1 turntable and a microphone, talking/singing/scratching and playing his films all at once, and it was actually good (well as good as that kind of thing ever gets for me).
Thought i'd let you know so you can check it oot like.

 | 12:09 pm - Putting on a gig? Right, i know i'm nowt to do with FYR promotion, but i need help!
An excellent German band (Sometree) are coming over in June and have a couple of tour dates free. I'd really like to get them on in boro. They're post-hardcore type rock/punk.
I've had no reply from Glen about sorting a gig out. I know last time these guys played (2001) they were great and i know a few people would like to see them again.
So, basically, are FYR interested in putting them on? Or can someone maybe give me a bit of help in me putting them on myself (i have no idea where to start booking venues/backlines/other bands to put on with them etc)? They've given my email to their tour managers and i've gotta get back to them by thursday :/
Thanks lovelies x Current Mood: excited

| 02:00 pm - Last night? Unfortunately I only made it there at about 10:20 which sucked but from what I *did* see: Hooker were great. The Bubble Projects style I loved but I dunno they didnt seem very enthusiastic about their performance. Understandably there werent many people there by that point but still....
It was nice to meet kickasskandy....shall be adding you on here in a few seconds!
I took some pics. Not really good for promo or anything I just liked the pretty lights haha:

 | 02:51 pm - VOLUNTEERS AND JUNK NEEDED! TSUNAMI FUNDRAISER ALL DAYER GIG @ THE ARENA SATURDAY 22nd JANUARY
As well as there being all these wonderful bands to see for the measly sum of four quid, there is also a clubnight afterwards with lots of lovely rock n roll.
( the lineup...Collapse )
FYR are organising 2 cake/junk stalls, so I'm looking for:
1. Volunteers to sit on the stalls. There's already me, Karen, Laura and Becky up for it but it's going to be from 3 til late so we want to make sure nobody's stuck there all day if they don't want to be. We want to have fun, not run a military cake operation! I'm having a baking afternoon round my house on FRIDAY 21st JAN, where we will bake silly biscuits, ice cakes, and then get messed up and go to No Noise. Anyone is welcome, just tell me you're coming first.
2. YOUR JUNK. Now we all have a shedload of stuff that we know we should really get rid of, but don't want to throw it away. Bring your unwanted pressies, bits and bobs, books, old toys, and general bric-a brac to donate, which we'll sell to raise money for the fund. I'm raiding my house tomorrow, that should probably fill both stalls :P It's an all ages show until later so bring whatever, nomatter how naff, the kids might buy it.
3. Your FOOD Bake your own or donate bought ones from Band M or wherever, we don't mind. Other snacks and treats welcome; crisps, biscuits etc. Again, it's an all ages show, so the more the better.
4. If anybody wants to make banners or posters for the stalls then it would be very much appreciated. Please email me.
Everybody is doing this for free, for an urgent cause, and it's probably the biggest coming-together of the alternative scene in Teesside I've seen so far. Be a part of it....
Who's in? Even if you can just watch the stalls for 20 minutes at a time now and again while we go and wee/ buy a drink, all help is welcome.
Thanks loads and loads, Danni x Current Mood: hopeful

 | 02:23 am - Human Fly (erers). Say Bzzz. (I have loads of spare time, and thought I'd co-ordniate the flyering effort while everyone else gets on with being busy :) )
Right Dudes and Dudettes, The only gig we have this month is on THURSDAY 20th, and it's going to be ace, and with the right amount of promotion, it will be even acer. Now I know loads of you have offered help in the past, and this is your chance to get in on the effort. I will be there, flyering down Boro and Stockton, where we can go for coffees and have a laugh. We really, REALLY need help in the following places:
REDCAR STOKESLEY GUISBROUGH STOCKTON COLLEGES MIDDLESBROUGH COLLEGES INGLEBY BARWICK YARM EAGLESCLIFFE THORNABY NEWCASTLE (watch this space for a day out)
If you can help, please EMAIL ME at exsilvique@hotmail.com, with your name, address, and which area/s you can cover. Please send any questons or whatever there too to make sure I get them asap.
Here's The Shit: In return for your efforts you will be guestlisted for the event you flyer for. If you cannot make the event, you will be guestlisted for the next one you come to. We cannot pay you cash, as we do not even pay ourselves. For this reason we can only have a limited, dedicated but fun flyering team, who are excited in the pants about FYR, come to the events and get involved. I will not send you flyers out unless I trust that you are enthusiastic and will actually hand them out, you will not get in free to our events in return for putting our flyers in the bin, cheeky monkey. You will also be expected to stick to some basic dumbass rules of flyering, as we cannot afford to pay fines for posters or flyers put up in illegal places.
If you choose to accept your mission you will recieve some flyers for Thursday 20th SOON. Failing a rendevous to exchange material they will be air dropped into your back garden (okay, maybe just postman dropped through your letterbox, be quiet).
Keep your eyes out for dates of flyer meetups in town! Come the summer, we'll be on rollerskates having picnics with wine in the park, so this is your chance to meet us and be a part of it :)
Love, Danni x
p.s (should we send this out to the mailing list?) Current Mood: excited Current Music: Jamelia on TV, woohoo
