On March 24th, 2006, Amy Lavigne passed away from MS related complications.
She wasn't someone famous. You won't see her name in the society pages or in the news. Amy didn't change the course of history, and her name won't be taught in schools.
Amy was a daughter, an aunt, a friend, and a co-worker. She lived her life by taking each day, one at a time, grabbing at everything and holding on, savouring every moment.
Vivacious and carefree, she loved without reservation and was honest to a fault. She fought for what she believed in, but knew when to keep the peace.
At the age of twenty-seven, Amy passed away quietly in her sleep. She had been living with MS for four and a half years.

May is MS Awareness Month in Canada, and the Super Cities WALK for MS is the largest national fundraising program for the MS Society of Canada, taking place in 160 communities across the country in 2006.
I am participating in the WALK for MS located in Calgary, Alberta, in Amy's honour, as she's no longer able to participate. My initial goal is $100 (Canadian) but I'm hoping, with your help and support, to reach at least $300.
My donation page is located here at Walk for MS.
I'm willing to offer my LJ layout and eFiction installation services for donations of $20 and over, but smaller sums are also very, very welcome. Any and all help to reach the goal will be much appreciated.
kyrieane has generously volunteered her fic writing services as well. She's willing to write in the SG1, SGA, and BTVS fandoms. John/Rodney, Jack/Daniel, or Spike/Xander

In 2005, the MS Society of Canada and related MS Scientific Research Foundation announced a $2.25 million research study that will examine the body's own stem cells to see if they can repair damage caused by MS. Your fund raising efforts may hold the key to a major breakthrough in MS research!
