I have a couple quick questions about marijuana use in Fort Collins. I reside in a NON-smoking apartment building. I moved in to this particular building because of the NON-smoking. (I get quite ill around smoke.) I have several neighbors who are obviously smoking pot in the building on a regular basis, causing the smell to enter my apartment regularly. I've spoken to the offenders, only to be told to "F-off". I have spoken to the landlord several times, but no true action has been taken. Can I call the drug task force about these incidents? Can I call the police when I smell marijuana? What can I do to remedy this situation, within legal limits? Current Mood: pissed off

April 2nd, 2010 chadwah @ 09:05 am: cell phone reception
So, my husband and I are shopping around for a cell phone plan -- a very, very basic cell phone plan. My question is, what is reception like around here? I searched some online but didn't find much information (or very consistent information, for that matter). The ones we're most interested in are AT&T and Verizon (since some family have those plans), but we're also looking at T Mobile. Right now we've got Sprint, and the reception is okay unless we're inside and not standing by a window, and it's totally dead when we go to visit friends in the foothills. We live in town, but not downtown, and don't go into the mountains terribly often, so we just need something that works well in town. A bonus would be if it worked well around downtown Loveland, too. Thanks in advance!

Okay, I'm looking for food again. In Denver, there are several all you can eat salad bars (Sweet Tomatoes, Sooper Salad!). Are there any restaurants like this around Fort Collins? Current Mood: hungry
January 29th, 2010 chadwah @ 08:54 am: record store
Does anyone know a place in town (or nearby - I'm in Loveland pretty frequently) that will buy old records (I've got a bunch of mostly Beatles and Paul McCartney)? Finest is CLOSED, to my surprise and dismay. Alternatively, does anyone want to buy some records? :)
January 24th, 2010 anya_silverfur @ 03:03 pm: Cheap live music near Fort Collins
Looking for cheap (under $10 a ticket) concerts / live music events in Fort Collins. Free events are even more desirable. I've already been checking Avogadro's Number and events at CSU.
As far as music genres, personally, I enjoy classical, country, classic rock, metal, and ska. I don't do hip hop / r & b / rap...period. Current Mood: curious

jellyfish78 @ 12:53 pm: Restaurant review/seeking GOOD local restaurants!
So, my boyfriend and I had a seriously bad experience at Jay's Bistro. Excellent food, beautiful restaurant, horribly dismissive service. Boyfriend made a reservation and took me there, we had some really strange service from the moment we walked in the door and when he sent an email complimenting the food and addressing the issues, the owner sent back an email chock-full o' sarcasm and wrong facts (like apologizing that our "party of 3 found that the service ruined our romantic dinner" when we were CLEARLY a party of 2.) Then she told us about speaking with our waitress...she named a woman who didn't even wait on us. We didn't even have an issue with the waitress (she was adequate) but the hostesses who didn't seem to know what to do with us, once they bothered to acknowledge me standing in front of the desk...etc. The owner's "apology" was super condescending and defensive, she jumped the gun in assuming who we were, she lectured that our reservation was made only a week before when some reservations are made a month before, implying we were at fault for being last-minute (it was NOT a packed-full, busy night.) I'd wanted to try that place for a couple of years and we left feeling like we'd been treated like pesky trash, who wouldn't notice shoddy service. :( We love going to locally owned restaurants. Does anyone have any raves about places with great food AND service? It doesn't even have to be a fancy place...I'd rather patronize a super casual place with good food and nice people a million times than pay once for a delicious dinner with pretentious, jerkwad service. So, LJ-ers...your favorite restaurants are......?
October 29th, 2009 anya_silverfur @ 10:32 am: RMRP Auction Donations
Calling all artists, crafters, and anyone who wants to help birds of prey! I volunteer with the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program. For the past few years, they have held a Gala Auction, as a fundraiser. ( This link is about last year's Auction, as information is not posted for this year's event yet.) While the Auction is not till February, the RMRP is accepting donations of auction items NOW. Wildlife art seems to do very well at this event. So, I am putting out the word to this talented community. The RMRP is looking for WILDLIFE art and crafts. Also, non-raptor art seems to do better (which is strange, as this is a raptor event). For example, when I worked the Auction last year, I saw an nicely done photo of two fox kits receive a high number of bids. Knitted blankets, beaded jewelry, books, and sporting tickets were just a handful of other items up for bids. If you are interested in donating, you can go to RMRP.org , comment here or PM me for details. Thanks for caring!
