This last week can honestly just fuck right off. Just a whole lot of stuff that I just don't even feel like talking about.

But one of the few good things from this last week: my BFF (the gay, male one I've known since 2nd grade, not my female one who's currently incarcerated) came to visit for a couple hours yesterday! It was the first time I'd seen him in years, and it was awesome. Mr. gin snapped this adorable picture of us - that's BFF's booze I'm holding, I stuck to soda, never fear. :)

Lynne and Joe

Aren't we too cute?

Happy weekend, all.

We spent the evening at some friends' house, one of whom is from Ireland and takes this holiday VERY SERIOUSLY, so we were treated to tons of good food, great drink (which I of course abstained from. *envious sigh*), songs and stories. She sang us all "For God and St. Patrick" and then we all told stories about a time we felt lucky, ranging from the silly (one of our friends who recently received some excellent imported coffee on a bad day) to the funny (another friend who told a story about driving drunk in the 70's, being pulled over by two different cops and let go each time), to the serious (lots of relationship stories, tales of near death and just feeling generally lucky in the face of others' misfortune). It was very nice, although I spent most of the evening perpetually embarrassed and uncomfortable, as our hosts were OMGTHRILLED! about our baby news, and felt the need to announce and toast it approximately on the hour. I don't do well as the center of attention. It was very sweet though. And! we have leftover corned beef brisket for lunches! Yummmmmm.

Walking Dead finale tonight, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have my zombie-bloody-handprint ear jewelery on, to celebrate. :)

Children of Earth marathon on BBCA! I haven't watched it since the first time 'cause it was so upsetting, and I really probably shouldn't watch this while pregnant, huh? 1. It will freak me the eff out, 2. It will make me bawl my eyes out (like absolutely everything does, these days).

*settles in to watch anyway*

ETA: Seriously, BBCA? You can show bodies with no skin and severed limbs, but you're blurring Barrowman's naked ass? *shakes head sadly* You've been in the US too long.

ETA again: Ugh. I hate the 4,5,6. Everything about them is gross. I wish someone would step on them. I think that was my biggest disappointment with this series, at the time, was that I spent the entire show just positive that the Doctor WOULD SHOW UP at the last second and just smack their asses down. :(

For all those on my f-list who are also not imbibing tonight, either because you're also preggo or just by personal choice: holla! (you see? I'm back in Customer Care for one week, and you see how I start speaking?)

For those of you are are imbibing, I HATE YOU. No, just kidding. Have one for me and baby!gin (who is now the size of a blueberry, per the books!). :)

First and foremost: just like back when I had my health nonsense going on this summer, I feel it's time for me to create a filter. I know most of you friended me for fandom-related fun, and I doubt you'll want to hear me prattle on about pregnancy stuff for the next eight months, so I'm giving you the option to opt out now. If, on the other hand, you'd like to follow the adventures of fid_gin as a mum, and baby!gin, please reply in this post and I'll add you to the filter. :)

In the baby respects, things are going good...had some drama this last week, but turned out to be normal and bloodwork which my doctor ordered is working to alleviate my RAGING PARANOIA. Jesus you guys, I don't know if I'm cut out for this. I am seriously the person who couldn't sleep the first three nights in our new house, because I was worried that it might turn out to be haunted. Or the cat might fall down the basement stairs. Or the furnace might explode. But yeah...no intolerable morning sickness just yet, just kind of a general nausea and super-sore boobs and I'm tired ALL THE TIME, OH MY GOD. I've been going to bed at, like, 7 at night. Last night I stayed up till 9 and was like "Wooooo! Go me!!!!"

Other than that, it's been a good, but kind-of obnoxious weekend. Mainly, I'm pissed off at Fright Night and Dreamworks, because my damn DVD won't play on the home computer with my ancient version of Windows, so I'm unable to do screencaps from the comfort of my office. I can do it on Mr. gin's laptop, but it takes FOREVER. Oh well...next weekend I'll have nothing but time: seriously, four days off and no booze?! Ack! What the hell do sober people do on Christmas, go to church? So yeah, the previously promised picspam is going to have to wait until this weekend. :( But I do have a nice, new Charley icon, courtesy of karenor! *points up at it*

Other than that, this weekend has been a whole lot of pizza and board games. Oh, and yesterday while I was out Christmas shopping, for the hell of it I went into Babies R Us. Jesus Christ. They could smell fresh blood and descended on me immediately, of course, and I told them about how I just found out I'm expecting and they smiled and cooed a lot...I don't think I reacted quite the way they expected though. All I could do was gaze around and repeat "Good God, this is going to cost us a fortune." Ah well, I'm still excited and happy. :) And! There were tons of very cool, kind of art-deco-y diaper bags/high chairs/car seats/etc. there that I really loved the colours for. Lots of green and brown, blue and brown, stuff like that. I guess this must be the trend right now or something.

Oh, and then today we get to go to Toys R Us to pick out a present for the little boy we picked off the Angel Tree at our gym! That's always one of my favourite parts of Christmas. :)

Hope you're all having a great weekend! Remember to comment if you want to be on the filter!

We had one last test left in the bathroom and I decided to do it first thing this morning just to double check and YEP, BABY!GIN IS DEFINITELY A GO. :)

(edited because it just occurred to me that my post from yesterday was f-locked, so some people might be wondering what I'm talking about. In case you can't glean this from the above: I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. :) )

I'm resisting the urge to start calling it the CGB, just 'cause Mr. gin would have no idea what I was talking about.

Anyway, in other news, FRIGHT NIGHT WILL BE OUT ON DVD TOMORROW! (Yes, I saved the big, bold font for news about the movie and not about the conception of my child. That's how I roll :) )

In other news beyond that, I made it through about half of part 1 of Bag of Bones on A&E last night and just...what the EFF was that?! I was struggling to find a single thing that did match the book, rather than pointing out those that didn't, because the ENTIRE FRIGGIN' SHOW is a completely new story. The characters share the names with those in the book, and that's about it. I'll still watch the rest of it, but I will not be buying this one like I did The Shining and The Stand, I tell you that.

Grrr
Man, I woke up on the WRONG side of the bed this morning, and I have no idea why.

I will tell you one thing that's pissing me off, and maybe one of you hep girls can help me out here, since my fucking book STILL HASN'T GOTTEN HERE, SERIOUSLY THEY HAVE ABOUT TWO MORE DAYS BEFORE I CANCEL MY ORDER AND THEY GET NEGATIVE FEEDBACK.

( Cut for ooky, babby-planning related stuff, if you'd like to avoid thatCollapse )

You know what helps with crankiness though? SEXY MEN. I've watched so many Fright Night interviews at this point, it's not even funny. There are very few people in that movie that I'm NOT crushing on. Yes, including McLovin Christopher Mintz Plasse. Well, not really. But damn he's adorable. ANTON YELCHIN, OTOH: I would like to formally invite you to join David Tennant and get in my pants. :)

So, not only has my life pretty much been taken over by effing Fright Night fanfiction, but I have another new obsession!

See, I figured before I start my new job working for Snex-box (which: no official word yet on when that will be because, in case you've forgotten, MY CURRENT SUPERVISORS ARE COCKSUCKERS), I should actually, y'know, BUY one for myself. The last gaming system I bought was a friggin' Playstation 2!!! So, that's what we did last weekend, and because I'd read good things about it on my f-list, we picked up Batman; Arkham City.

OMG. Seriously, this fucking game! IT HAS CONSUMED ME! All I can think about when I get home each night (after checking the kinkmeme, of course) is powering up the Snex-box (yes, we've really been calling it that) and kicking some bad guy ass!

It's also given me a rather questionable sense of humour. There was this exchange last night:

Mr. gin: "Man, being a superhero is hard, thankless work."

Me: "But coming home at night after a hard day at work to your Batcave and your Bat-vision must make it all worth while, right?"

Mr. gin: "Why, what's that get me?"

Me: *thinking for a moment* "Bat-isfaction?"

Mr. gin: *groaning and shaking his head* "Holy bad puns, Batman."

WE ARE DORKS

Let's see, what else. I've, uh, started charting and taking my temperature and all that fooferah, which is good but makes me feel stupid because I feel like I probably should have been doing this this whole time. What can I say, my doctor is a very laissez-faire type of doc and when we started trying was just like "Oh, it'll happen. If it doesn't in a year, come back and see me." So, *fingers crossed*.

We don't really have any plans for Thanksgiving this year...going to some friends' house at which I'll get to look like a jerk and turn down lots of food, 'cause I'm trying to be good on my diet after celebrating my new job last weekend with way too much junk food. But it'll be nice to be around other folks anyway. And we don't have to show up until 4! Until 4...NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH NUH LEADER! BATMAN!

Have a great, long weekend y'all!

God I'm depressed.

Why is it, when you're trying to get pregnant and have just discovered for the umpteenth time that you're not, that you go to the hairdresser's and every goddamn magazine you pick up is full of effing celebrities holding their cute fucking new babies, and speculation about who may or may not be pregnant?

:(

Oh well. Watching Spaced is helping. Which reminds me...let me ask yous somethin' (why yes, I am right in the middle of my favourite episode with Tyres, why do you ask? :) ): I'm trying to continue my winning streak of gifting my dad with DVD sets of some of my favourite shows that I think he'd also like for Christmas. Last year, I got him The West Wing, and the year before that Life On Mars. He psychotically loved both. I'm considering going with Spaced this year. Do you think a man in his early sixties who loves quirky British humour, but who isn't necessarily great with pop culture references, would enjoy it? He's also not big on drug humour, and he abhors violence...the violence isn't a big deal with Spaced (except for some moments in the zombie episode, but he loved Shaun of the Dead), but the drug use is obviously quite rampant. Haven't made up my mind...

They're showing some kind of Who marathon on BBCA right now. We're on New Earth.

You know that thing, where your heart hurts and your throat hurts and you just feel so damn sad that you can't even make the tears come? I kind-of have that, right now.

Anyway. 2010. I'm looking forward to a couple things...an adventure in February, getting knocked up, fixing up the house.

Hope the new year is wonderful to you all. Blessed be.
