good article nomination question

[edit]

hi! thank you for choosing to review my good article Minecraft Manhunt. it's my first, and i'm not all too familiar with the process works. i understand there may be some preliminary concerns about the writing quality, and i just wanted to mention that most of the article was in the process of a rewrite (tightening phrasing & adding sources), at which point i would consider it complete. i just wasn't expecting it to be reviewed so fast! is this okay with you if i finish up this edit prior to a full review? thank you! 9koyami (talk) 17:43, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hello! Congratulations on nominating your first article for the good article status, I understand it might seem a little scary. I understand that you are in the midst of editing your article, so I will place this article on Hold status for around one week - two weeks. I have done most of my review already, and so I will put that on the review page (you have done pretty well!). Keep in mind however, this just means that the article will not be passed or failed until that time. ModlordD (talk) 17:47, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
thank you! i probably should've done it in advance (i assumed it would take about a week for a review to begin) and i was in the process of proofreading with another editor, but fell asleep. i'll be sure to apply changes from your comments as well: final editing shouldn't take any longer than a day, though you're free to return at any point! i'll make a comment on the talk page once everything you've said has been addressed and i've done all my fixes. 9koyami (talk) 17:52, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
nice to see you super enthusiastic! my review has been completed, you may see it at Minecraft Manhunt/GA1. I have kept in on hold as we discussed. ModlordD (talk) 18:23, 7 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ModlordD: article's ready for the GA review!
9koyami (talk) 12:13, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
My second review has been posted. You can find it at Minecraft Manhunt/GA1. Last time I put the review on the article page; this was a mistake. The new one is on the talk page. Your page will remain on hold for reasons stated in the review. Great changes since last read, with all things considered. ModlordD (talk) 00:59, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ModlordD: the mentioned fixes have been made!
9koyami (talk) 03:19, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Congratulations of having a good article! This is an amazing feat, and I'm aware on how well this means to you. The badge on the article will be automatically added by a bot at some point. The final review I had made in on the Minecraft Manhunt talk page. ModlordD (talk) 04:00, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
thank you so much for your review and patience throughout! it's very satisfying having a video series i watched religiously during COVID get its own article of this quality! 9koyami (talk) 04:03, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
thanks so much! happy wikipeding, I suppose ModlordD (talk) 04:04, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

Recent nominations of Marvel characters

[edit]

Hi there! I appreciate the enthusiasm with trying to nominate some Marvel characters for GA status, but I am messaging you to let you know that I don't think they're going to be ready for the process yet. Much of their articles contain uncited statements, which falls afoul of the Wikipedia:Good article criteria's Verifiability quota. While weaker, criterion three, Broad in its coverage, I also feel isn't addressed here. There is a lot of significant analysis and discussion of these characters not being incorporated into the article from what I can see in a quick search (I'm seeing a lot of promising hits in Scholar for example). Finally, and though this is more picky-choosey, I'm not quite confident it's meeting the "Well-written" criteria; the prose doesn't seem to very concise, as many sections, particularly the plot summary, seem to run for quite some time and don't seem particularly brief.

I'd suggest basing yourself off of some other Marvel character articles, such as Iron Man and Captain America, which are both Featured Articles, and, while stricter, should give a good idea formatting-wise and content-wise of how these kinds of pages should be set up for such big characters. At present I'm not confident the articles you nominated will be able to pass a review. That's not to say they can't, and I definitely believe you can get them there; they just need some more work before they're ready. I'd personally suggest working on a draft in your userspace or starting on some smaller characters to get yourself more familiar with the area, though if you feel confident trying to mimic that style and implement it into such big articles, I certainly can't stop you, and I wish you the best of luck.

I do hope this helps, since it's always good to see more people interested in the character space. Let me know if I can clarify anything further. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 07:22, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply

yoo! honestly thank you, its so refreshing that a real person is trying to tell me these things. I'm generally a shyer person so I rarely try to go out of my way to find a "mentor" as the wikipedia articles try to recommend. just for that alone I thank you.
as for the other stuff, I really only nominated those articles because I had been doing very heavy copywriting and reformatting poorly written areas, but I didn't add much new information. I can see now that was probably not the smartest idea, or at the very least a very good idea, so I will actually go out of my way to look up some new information.
as well, whilst I do believe that much discussion does exist in scholarly forums about these characters, just from what I hear it seems very likely that these analysis' are rather on their live-action counterparts. Since in the MCU most of these counterparts get their own Wikipedia pages, those links unfortunately apply more towards them, at least as far as I know. ModlordD (talk) 23:35, 8 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ModlordD: For MCU counterparts; it does tend to depend on the article, but if the bulk of coverage is about the MCU or a film adaptation, then a merge may be wise (Since there's not really a reason for separation if the dev/receptions aren't vast enough to warrant a merge). I did something similar with Peacemaker (character) recently when I nommed it for Good Article since the bulk of his reception is in relation to the DCEU adaptation, though I imagine with the two you nominated there may be enough for a split since they have far more noteworthy comics histories than Peacemaker (Though I am mostly just guestimating here).
Let me know if I can help with source searching and the like! I can definitely try finding stuff in places, for example like the Wikipedia Library (Which I am unsure if you have access to, if need be I can search in there for you). I'd also suggest, if you need further help, reaching out to Thebiguglyalien or Wrangler1981, who both have been doing some heavy work in the Marvel characters area, especially on some big names. They may be able to point you to resources for the area I may be unaware of. Let me know if I can clarify anything else! Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 00:45, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Hey, I did a lot of work on Quicksilver's publication history. Can you see if that looks good. I'll do some more of the article soon but I just wanted to make sure I'm on the right track ModlordD (talk) 22:56, 9 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
Random, but just wanted to ask: You've put Moon Knight on the backburner for now, right? I'd suggest removing your GAN template from the talk page while you work on him. Since he hasn't had work akin to Quicksilver or Punisher done yet, a review now likely would have complications.
Also, saw your current slate of articles you plan to work on; best of luck for some of these. These are titanic articles; I have mad respect for your willingness to work on them. Best of luck! Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 04:10, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thanks so much! Yeah, those articles are definitely going to take quite some time, but I'm excited to make some articles GA. Kinda happy I found my own niche within the Wikipedia space.
As for the Moon Knight article, that was an oversight. Meant to remove it a while ago but I forgot, thanks for letting me know. ModlordD (talk) 23:17, 14 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
It's definitely a good niche to fulfill! For as mainstream as these characters are, there's very little actual improvement for comics characters, especially for big names. The work you're doing is highly appreciated. I wish you the best and if there's any way I can help at all do let me know. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 01:43, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
thanks so much! actually I do need assistance for one thing. Recently, I tried to make a separate article titled "Kingpin in other media" similar to "Daredevil in other media" because I felt the Kingpin in other media section was getting too lengthy. But I kept trying to publish the article and I kept getting this archive error about the type of archiving service. I tried to rectify it but as far as I looked none of the websites were archived with it.
Could you look at the Kingpin in other media section and let me know if I missed something ModlordD (talk) 02:09, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ModlordD What was the archival issue? I only know of Archive Today being a problem, though I don't see it in the current section. On a side note, though, you should probably remove Looper, which is considered an unreliable source.
Outside of that, I will say I'm not sure a split is really necessary here. "In other media" articles and similar splits tend to get merged a lot for failing notability (See cases like Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Black Panther in other media, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alternative versions of Joker, etc). These articles typically need reliable sources verifying that the topic of "_ in other media" actually meets independent notability. It's possible of course (Batman in film, Alternative versions of Spider-Man) but typically only for characters where there is a lot on them. I'm not sure Kingpin is one of those characters. Additionally, the current section is not super long and likely easily condensable; I'd check out other similar GA Marvel articles and see how they do it. Some alternate versions of the Kingpin are worthy of discussion and mention, but keep in mind not every appearance needs to have its own separate listing. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 02:34, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Okay thanks for letting me know. After I looked at it again I agree with you, I won't split it ModlordD (talk) 20:39, 15 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah I do apologize for being a downer; I only bring it up largely because of notability concerns rather than anything else. Regardless, best of luck with the Kingpin article.
Would you still need me to clarify the archival issue? If so, I'd need to know what archival error you're having when you try to perform edits. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 04:29, 16 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Nah don't worry about being a "downer". You ain't, and I'm definitely not passionate at all about making a "Kingpin in other media" article lol.
As of the issue, I believe the error I got was that I was using an Archive Today link. With that being said, I'm pretty sure the article doesn't use it, so I'm pretty lost there. ModlordD (talk) 21:46, 16 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
@ModlordD I think I found it. The ref verifying his appearance in The Punisher game apparently uses Archive Today for its archival. You can check using source editor. Magneton Considerer: Pokelego999 (Talk) (Contribs) 18:44, 17 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

GA to-do list

[edit]

I don't want to swell your already massive to-do list at User:ModlordD/GAMarvel, but if you are ever looking for additional characters that could be worth looking at when that well runs dry (or ones that you didn't think of before but really want to tackle), I came up with a list of my own, ones that I felt were more iconic than the average character. :) Major film roles were not required, but certainly didn't hurt!

Avengers (comics) and members (and associates):

Fantastic Four:

X-Men and members (and associates):

Antagonists:

Yes, it could certainly be done; especially if I have help. I probably have most of the necessary resources. I just haven't dedicated the time to it, because the GA requirements can be time-consuming. Wrangler1981 (talk) 23:46, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Also Kingpin - I have more sources for that too. Wrangler1981 (talk) 23:47, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

ok. Let me know if there is anything in particular. Wrangler1981 (talk) 00:51, 5 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
just saw your edits on the Kingpin article. Thanks so much you added a lot of information to the article! do you think it is ready definitely for GA or does it still need more ModlordD (talk) 19:21, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
In my experience, articles don't make it past the GA review if they have primary source references. Basically they all need to be replaced with secondary sources. Some of this still needs to be done for Kingpin. Some editors also might not consider some of the secondary sources to be reliable; Wiki editors tend to be skeptical of fan sites. I can try to make some other improvements over time. Wrangler1981 (talk) 20:07, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

Great. I love Shang-Chi. I'm hoping to get it up to GA, over time. I wish there were more reliable secondary sources; strangely there's not that much about representation of Asian culture in mainstream superhero comics. Wrangler1981 (talk) 20:40, 1 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
As an Asian-American myself, the lack is certainly sad. From an admittedly brief search on Google Scholar, I came across these sources that could help

I checked Wikipedia library in general but ... not for these specific articles. I'll give it a shot. Wrangler1981 (talk) Wrangler1981 (talk) 22:39, 2 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
Not sure if you have already figured this out by now, but for example, for the first Taylor and Francis online link, I'd go to the Wikipedia Library and click on the Taylor and Francis collection. Then I'd manually search it up on that new tab.
At the top of the page, it shows stuff like "Home to All Journals to Arts to Journal of Graphic Novels and Comics". Usually I'll use that as a guide to narrow down my search ModlordD (talk) 00:05, 3 August 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hey, great work and thank you to @Wrangler1981 for the assist! :) I'm intrigued in your work on getting White Tiger (Hector Ayala) to GA - I started that one after all - and it's nice after all the Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, etc, to see a more minor character being considered. :) I think those need as much love as any of the "big guys"! was inspired to work on that one after I saw him in the MCU born again show! was pretty fun to see his history and how important he is for the Latino community ModlordD (talk) 18:57, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
great to hear. Wrangler1981 (talk) 20:27, 18 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
If you think about it, if you've got the sources for it, more minor characters must be easier to work on than the major ones because there is just that much less you need to do with them. Something to think about, maybe do a "big" name, then do a couple smaller ones so you can breathe, then hit another big one. Something like that! Keep up the good work. For example, I'm sure that Quasar (Wendell Vaughn), after starting in his own series for 60 issues, has got to have more out there than what we are currently seeing for him in his article... BOZ (talk) 12:46, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
yeah, honestly that isn't a terrible idea. Normally I wouldn't work on an article on Quasar since I'm not too familiar with the character; but seeing as its being nominated for deletion right now I definitely should lol ModlordD (talk) 13:45, 19 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
I would think too that you might be able to find something for Negative Zone, especially with the prominent role it had in the Civil War storyline? BOZ (talk) 17:29, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
honestly, I'm not entirely sure whether Negative Zone does deserve its own article. It isn't notable enough, in my opinion, to justify having its own. with that being said, it definitely would belong in Features of the Marvel Universe ModlordD (talk) 19:08, 2 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
There's definitely a little bit of something but we will see how it goes. BOZ (talk) 14:27, 3 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Ugh, so many of these recently; do you see anything for Pyro (Marvel Comics)? BOZ (talk) 22:24, 10 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Made a comment, I do hope that this one doesn't go through ModlordD (talk) 01:31, 11 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

Restoring articles

[edit]

Your inclusion of Boomerang (character) at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics/Marvel Comics work group on the to-do list reminded me that one little project I always like to invest time in is bringing back articles that should have never been deleted or redirected; unfortunately there are quite a few. I've been tracking all Marvel character article removals at User:BOZ/Marvel deletions (most there will never be back, but some will) and I can assure you that list is not even close to complete. :) AFD can turn out a little goofy and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Boomerang (character) sure fits that bill, but the great thing about the notability guidelines is that if you ever find the sources to restore something you can always give it another shot. If you think you've got enough to bring this one back from here, let me know and we can give it a try! BOZ (talk) 20:05, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

absolutely, I'll let you know! ModlordD (talk) 20:36, 23 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Commenting as a passerby (And as someone who did participate in the first AfD way back when), but I do believe the reception will likely need the largest amount of work compared to the old version. It was what failed the initial version of the article; it'll likely need some more SIGCOV since if the initial version is revived without much work it is liable to getting AfD'd again. I don't recall there being much on Boomerang, but given that was before he got a film appearance, I'd do some more digging and see if you can't expand with some of the (potential) new sources from there. If you can't get much beyond what was previously there I'm not sure there's a lot of room for an article unfortunately. All that said, best of luck with potentially reviving him though. If you can find some stuff that significantly expands the reception of the character then that would be pretty cool to see back. Good article nominations RfC

[edit]

Hi ModlordD,

There is an ongoing Request for Comment (RfC) at Wikipedia:Good article nominations/August 2026 RfC, which you may be interested in because in the past year, you have nominated or reviewed more than one good article nomination. This message has also been sent to all subscribers to the Good Article Gazette. The RfC contains many proposals (33 at the time of writing), which are split into the following categories: nominators, reviewers, reviews, volunteer roles, reviewing initiatives, and others. However, you are more than welcome to add any proposals of your own that you wish to put to the community.

By the end of September, all the proposals will have been closed by an uninvolved editor, either as a consensus for one of the options or with no consensus. At this point, editors will be invited again to develop these proposals into coherent policy and implement them.

Thank you for your contributions to the good articles project, and I look forward to your input! (in solidarity), JacobTheRox(talk|contributions) 16:03, 11 August 2026 (UTC)Reply
