Basant Kabra satisfies WP:MUSICBIO (Criterion: "Has won or been nominated for a major music award..."). He is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, which is India's highest national honor given to practicing artists in the performing arts.

I have updated the lead sentence and expanded the article with direct citations from the official Sangeet Natak Akademi document (conferred by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India) as well as independent coverage in The Hindu.
