Please read my comment on that article's Talk page. I can see no conceivable reason why Wikipedia graphics editors would choose to insert a vintage 1864 photo of a slave-auction house as a prime lead-in photo for the "Atlanta" article. Thanks. Mason.Jones (talk) 21:35, 24 June 2026 (UTC)

- Why do I see these images displayed at the top of WP articles on a smartphone screen but not at the top of a computer screen? Why is it being auto-selected for the mobile/smartphone view? Mason.Jones (talk) 23:21, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- @Mason.Jones Not sure, it's showing the correct skyline photo for me on the native iOS app. What operating system and app/browser are you using to access the article? Umby 🌕🐶 (talk) 23:24, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- Android / Google Chrome. Mason.Jones (talk) 23:42, 24 June 2026 (UTC)
- AI says: "Wikipedia's mobile layout is specifically designed to maximize visual context on small screens. It automatically gathers specific images related to the article (maps, sub-topic photos) and pins them in a top carousel, whereas the desktop view [doesn't]." So it is Wikipedia and the two image choices are random, but once pinned in the carousel they become permanent. I think that's kind of lousy. Mason.Jones (talk) 01:02, 25 June 2026 (UTC)

On a side note: I used to have a username on other social media that included a Pokémon species but after I considered how aggressive can Nintendo be with their copyright I switched away from that username.
Cordially

- @Jothefiredragon Hi hello! Yeah, that's been a concern of mine for a while as well, which is fun because this has been my online identity for a long while. Oh well, I have a contingency plan in the case Nintendo et. al. decide to get litigious with it, but hopefully it doesn't come to that

- @SpongeBobBeybladeandSonicFan2015: The Help:Introduction material linked by UmbyUmbreon is a great place to get started. Another option is to just read articles, and if you see an obvious mistake, fix it with reliable sources. Try to fix things that you are decent at fixing and don't use AI chat bots to help you write because they'll usually make things worse. Cheers and good luck!
