Requested move 10 September 2026

[edit]

ShaqueShaque (film) – The base title is ambiguous and cannot reasonably be treated as the primary topic, especially when there are multiple distinct works associated with the title. Moving the 1976 film to Shaque (film) would allow the base title Shaque to serve as a disambiguation page. A draft of the proposed disambiguation page is already available at Draft:Shaque. • Support the film has 702 views but the TV series has 32,135 and Be-Shaque has 700[]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 17:56, 10 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • Oppose. The proto-dabpage lists two WP:PTMs along with Shaque (TV series), which actually appears to have the title Shaque: Trust No One and should be moved. Nothing is ambiguous here. 162 etc. (talk) 01:43, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
@162 etc., I don't think “Nothing is ambiguous here” follows from the PTM argument. I agree that Be-Shaque and Mysteries Shaque are partial title matches. But removing those PTMs does not establish whether the 1976 film is the primary topic for “Shaque”.
PTM determines what belongs on a disambiguation page; it does not establish that the current occupant of the base title is the primary topic. The primary-topic question still needs to be addressed. The existence of the distinct TV series is also relevant, even though its current full title is Shaque: Trust No One.
I'm not proposing any move of the TV series. The proposal is simply to move the 1976 film to Shaque (film) and use Shaque as the disambiguation page. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 04:31, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
Per WP:D2D, "Disambiguation is required whenever, for a given word or phrase on which a reader might search, there is more than one existing English Wikipedia article to which that word or phrase might be expected to lead." In this case, there is only one Wikipedia article which we'd expect to lead with "Shaque", and that is the article currently at Shaque. No further disambiguation is required. 162 etc. (talk) 04:39, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
WP:D2D distinguishes between deciding whether disambiguation is needed and determining whether one topic is primary. The fact that the film currently occupies Shaque does not, by itself, establish that it is the primary topic. Saying that the article currently at Shaque is the one readers would expect to find assumes the very point at issue; that is precisely what needs to be established. Disambiguation is only needed if a title is ambiguous. "Shaque" is not ambiguous. Please review WP:D. 162 etc. (talk) 16:02, 11 September 2026 (UTC)Reply
