Feature update: Markdown Toolbar coming to Comment Editor!

#meta #product #ux #changelog

Hello, dear DEV community!

I have a quick and exciting update for you today: we have brought the highly requested markdown toolbar to the comment editor.

Many of you who have been following us know that we have been working on improving the editor experience. We first introduced the markdown toolbar in the post editor, and then we simplified how to add a rich-content embed. These are both integral parts of the authoring experience we wanted to get right. We have come a long way and now the toolbar is ready to grace our comment editor. 🎉

I’d like to take the chance to thank my talented and incredibly supportive teammates. I can’t have done this without:

@s_aitchison bringing this cross the finish line
@aritdeveloper & Dwight simplifying the embed experience
@pp & @anujbhavsar96 crafting sensible user experiences
@ellativity & @michaeltharrington advocating for our users and creators
@graciegregory making this post better
@jennieocken's & @jeremyf's guidance and support

Have you tried it? Play with it and as always, let me know what you think in the comment section below! 😉

Woot woot! Loving it! 🙌

Also, if anybody else is a regular user of comment templates (which you can create from here), this functionality is tucked away in the kebab (...) menu of the toolbar.
