Where do you guys get your car insurance and what do you pay? All the insurance websites are lying cunts and I'm sick of their bullshit harassment when I'm just trying to get some decent ideas. So, if anyone is still watching this community, hit me up and let me know :)

Who has recommendations for a mechanic with good Honda experience? I need some work done on my wife's 2001 CR-V and while I like Ralph Schomp in general, they wish to charge us an arm and an asshole. So I'd like additional quotes.

Your answers are much appreciated!

I was in need of an emissions test place around Denver that is NOT an Envirotest station, just a small shop that does 1981 and older vehicles. Any ideas where some are? My usual at Oxford and Broadway is probably closed today!

Thank you!!

Selling a car to a junkyard [Jun. 8th, 2009|11:47 am]

Does anyone here have any experience with selling a car to a junkyard in Denver? I have a 1992 Acura Integra that I need to get rid of in an expedient manner. While I'd like to potentially sell it to a private party, the car is unregistered, uninsured, and has not had an emissions test in years. All of these things are apparently required to sell a car to a Denver resident (and would probably cost me more than the car is worth), thus I'm thinking of selling it to a junkyard instead.

I know I won't get very much money for it regardless of whom I sell it to (it has, like, 240k miles on it, a banged up body, broken window motors, etc. etc. etc.), but I'm hoping to at least get a couple hundred dollars for it. Is it likely that a junkyard will pay that much?

Does anyone have any recommendations for a fair/good junkyard to sell to?

Thanks!

Greetings! Does anyone have any recommendations on area e-test stations for PRE-1981 vehicles? I don't want to do envirotest, they can blow me. Would prefer to use an independent.

Thanks!

Used car dealerships? [Mar. 22nd, 2009|01:18 pm]

Thanks to my ex, my credit is now less than great. I'm in need of a second vehicle (preferably an V6 truck or SUV) and would like some direction in finding a GOOD used car dealership in the Littleton/surrounding area. "Good" meaning the vehicle is quality and isn't going to break down the first year I have it.

I looked into Drivetime and wasn't impressed with their online reviews nor their vehicles on the lot.

Unfortunately, my options are limited, as I don't have the best credit (thanks again, Nick!). I can save money for a down payment or to outright buy the car, but I'm in kinda of two-three month time frame of needing the second car (long story).

Any information would be appreciated, especially if it is from a personal experience.
Thanks guys!

Online Plate Renewal [Mar. 21st, 2009|01:48 pm]

Dear Powers That Be,

It's my understanding that the purpose of online license plate renewal is to help cut the numbers of people having to pay their taxes in person and those who mail their payments in late. Why, then, do you choose to discourage the practice by adding an $8.00 processing fee to your online collections? That's only $2.00 less than the late fee if I waited till the end of the month to pay my taxes. Nice incentive, boneheads.

I am the lucky winner of four new tires! And by winner, I mean sucker buyer.

With taxes looming, stocks evaporating, and house repairs pending, I can't exactly afford to splurge on new tires. If you've bought tires recently in the Denver or Boulder area, would you mind sharing leads on good deals?

So far, I have quotes from Discount Tires, Tires Plus, and Costco Tires, and they're all around $650 for the cheapest brand and installation.

My tires are 225 50R17 94V, if you really want to get nosy.
