Scrappy meets thrift

I've been making these blocks every week for months now. It's a challenge from @repreoquiltlover, and you can still jump in. This week I counted 250 small blocks, and as that was my goal, I now have to find out how to join them. Actually it's supposed to be a neutral in-between block, but I love them together like on the picture. The problem is that the finished quilt will be too small. Have to think about it for a while.

One hundred blocks

Scrappy meets thrift is a challenge from @reproquiltlover. I've planned to make 250 blocks for this challenge. Today I could count the first hundred. The blocks are 2 1/2", and will finish as 2" in a quilt. They're really addictive to sew. I just managed to put all hundred in a pile and take a photo before it overturned.

Scrappy meets thrift

Some weeks ago I started a challenge from @reproquiltlover to make small economy blocks. Every week I've made some new blocks, always using fabric from my scrap bin. This week I met some quilting friends, and even if  we talked a lot and had a great time, I managed to make some new blocks. There is also a picture of the 36 blocks I've made earlier for this project.

Economy blocks - a challenge

This week Taryn on @reproquiltlover tempted me with these mini blocks. And I had to start immediately. It's a fun sew-along called "scrappymeetsthriftchallenge", and you could certainly jump in if you like. My first blocks were done yesterday. Now I'm preparing for many more of them the next weeks to come. Hopefully I can use many of my precut scraps. And to get the blocks perfect, I foundation piece them.

Scrappy pinapple quilt

I've been sewing pinapple blocks this last month. These blocks were easier to make than I had thought. It's the February challenge from Persimon Dreams. I have used many of my tiniest scraps. The blocks are 7", and Saturday I made the last of the 63 blocks I'll need for this project. Here you can see them all together. Now comes the removing of the paper, and will take some time.

Ups, I found one too small block. Think I have to make another one.

I had to rescue the blocks before the wind took them all.

Project Quilting 11-4

Birds in the air, that's what we were supposed to make for this challenge from Persimon Dreams this week. I used my smallest scraps for it, and as usual this year my quilt is 7"x 11".

There are still two more challenges to go. So you have the possibility to join if you like.

Sleeping stars

Back in June I took part in a challenge from Curated Quilts to make a miniquilt. The theme was stars, and I designed a quilt with three stars. In July I got a mail from Curated Quilts that I was accepted to be in their magazine. I had to send my quilt to the US.

Last week I got my quilt back again, with the newest Curated Quilts. I can recommend the magazine and their challenges four times a year. All fabrics used for this quilt are batiks from Island Batik. I love those fabrics.
