Gymnastics
Hi, are there any gymnastics classes in Davis? I see classes for yoga and pilates but I don't think that's really what I want. I want beginning gymnastics, learning to do the splits and stuff. Thanks in advance. | | Sunday, April 20th, 2008 | 10:26 am [rhapsodyinaqua]

Biodiesel
Hi, I was wondering if anyone here knows anything about turning a regular diesel car into a biodiesel car and if there's any where in Davis that could help me. Are there any classes or workshops? Anything? I know nothing about it. ^_^ | | Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 | 9:43 am [xmeta]

Davis Activity Group
Hey You Guys! This stems from the $4 movie night posting last week. There are a few of us who have either already gotten together and went to a movie, or who are interested (like me). Well, if you are interested but want an easy way to be updated, join our new facebook group called "Davis Activity Group." I know it is a boring title but I couldn't think of anything better. It would be neat meeting more of you out there, so dont hesitate to join or contact one of us! (and if you dont have a facebook go to thefacebook.com and make a profile!) Hope to see you there! edit: FYI The link is http://ucdavis.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2441413509 | | Friday, November 24th, 2006 | 8:51 am [purplkat]

Friendly Reminder: Job Offer!
Hey, all. This is a friendly reminder that In Sheep's Clothing is still hiring one or two more people. The job is a minimum wage retail position, part time, but aside from that, I could give you however many hours that you wanted to work. There's a strong likelihood that your schedule would include a Friday or Saturday at some point or another, but if you're a good enough candidate and that's a deal-breaker for you, it could be gotten around. No retail experience is necessary, but knowing how to knit and/or crochet and/or embroider, weave, spin or SOME kind of textile art, or at least being willing to learn, is. If there's anyone out there who has studied and has a strong mastery of color theory, I'd be more than willing to go to bat for you even if you don't know much about yarn, because one of the big questions we get at work is "what color goes good with this?". It'd be great to have someone who could give smashingly good answers. Someone who is/becomes skilled at their craft can make extra money teaching private lessons (you get $20/hr) and might be able to work something out with the owner wherein you teach classes, as well. Drop off a resume if you're interested. Current Mood: busy | | Sunday, October 22nd, 2006 | 7:12 am [purplkat]

NaNoWriMo is coming!
If any of you Davis people are doing National Novel Writing Month this year, or are interested in giving it a shot, there's going to be a meet and greet for the Davis chapter of the NaNovellists today at E St. Roma, starting around 3pm. I'd urge anyone who's ever thought about writing a novel to drop by and say hello! Current Mood: busy | | Friday, October 20th, 2006 | 11:08 am [georgebushisgay]

George Bush Is Gay
I made a webpage exposing our favorite American president, George Bush. www.GeorgeBushIsGay.com And I don't mean "gay" as an insult. I mean "gay." | | Saturday, October 14th, 2006 | 9:17 pm [on_a_hill] |

Want to work in a yarn store?
In Sheep's Clothing on E street is hiring for a sales clerk position, part time, probably minimum wage. Retail experience isn't a must, but you need to have either knitting or crochet experience or at the very least you must be willing to learn to knit and/or crochet. Anyway, that's about it. Drop a resume off sometime. Say hi to me if you see me there -- I'm the one with the purple hair. :) Current Mood: exhausted | | Thursday, August 3rd, 2006 | 4:20 pm [scotchtapeheart] |

From the Sacramento News and Review
I thought this might be of interest to Davis residents ... Is Davis Turning Red?I have a memory of a woman wearing a pro-Bush shirt into a polling place in last year's election. Given that 2004 was my first Presidential election in Davis, I'm not sure if this was the norm, but the woman was very confrontational about the election, so I can agree with some of the SN&R article. | | Thursday, November 3rd, 2005 | 1:40 pm [mcalamari]

Measure X?
I'm new to this community and apologize if Davis political issues are frowned upon, but am interested in a civil conservation with others about the "Yes on X" latest tactics: The California Aggie "Yes on X organizers accused of illegal campaigning"What bothers me is that many political leaders in Davis are behind this measure, and they seem to be vote buying ... :( As a poll worker myself (since 1998), this sort of thing really bothers me. I'm glad that Freddie spoke out against this! | | Thursday, October 13th, 2005 | 9:32 pm [carakarena]

Moving to Davis, need a place to stay.
I'm moving to Davis sometime in August, and I need a temporary place to live (for a month or so). I'm 24, female, generally quiet but friendly. I will need a place that is somewhat pet friendly; I don't have any cats or dogs, but I do have several small (caged) animals. I'm keeping an eye on the ads on Craigslist, but I wanted to ask here too. So, anyone have a spare room or couch or floor? I'm looking for something in the $500 and under range. | | Sunday, May 15th, 2005 | 8:55 pm [blackenamel]

STEAK Charity?
Okay, I give up. I've been hunting for some kind of telephone number or website for a charity in Davis which (IIRC) is called 'STEAK'. All google is giving me are steakhouses that are making me hungry ;) Directories don't seem to be of much help, either. Does anyone have any idea what the number for this place is? Or website? Or something? Thanks :) Current Mood: annoyed |
