Hey everyone-
I coach a varsity dance team, and I was also on that team when I was in high school. All in all, I have 8 years of experience with that team, none of them having more than 9 girls on the team, and some of them being as small as five. All of a sudden, for the upcoming season, I've got 17 girls! I don't know what to do do with them all! I'm thrilled to pieces, because big teams look so much more solid on the floor than small teams, especially in competition, but I have ZERO experience with this many! I'm lucky because all the new girls have prior dance experience, so I don't have anyone starting from square one, but still...any suggestions? How do I get them all to listen? What are good ideas for level changes/formations, etc? We're a competitive team, so our routines have to be clean and sharp. Choreographing for a team is six is sooo different than choreographing for a team of 16! Help!

Hey everyone!
my name is kelsey. me and my friend just recently started a dance team at our school. we are in the process of working everything out and getting started to practice. We are going to have 15 girls on our squad. My mom agreed to be the coach, but she is relying on me to do everything. The problem is i have NO IDEA WHAT I AM DOING! lol I have had dance expierience, like ive been in dance up until last year since i was like 4, and i was a varsity cheerleader last year, but this is my sophmore year and i am focusing on dance team. If anyone has any advice, please help!! i am SOO desperate. i have no idea which mopves are appropriate for the dances either. so hellpppp! lol thanks a lot ladies!

Hi! I'm Anna and I'm from Brandon, SD on the Brandon Valley High School Lynx Dance Team. I'm 15 and a sophomore but this is my first time on our high school team. I know my coach b/c she was my coach at my club studio that she owns. I love my team and we are really excited for this year. I'm an alternate for the Jazz and Lyrical Routines but I am do the Pom routine at competitions. Just wanted to say hi and hope to post a lot!

Well first I have to say that in my district, jr. high is 8th and 9th grade and high school is 10-12. Ok well now I'm on the jr. high team (I'm a freshman) and due to budget cuts there will be no dance team for the jr. high next year! I'll be on the high school team but I can't help thinking how unfair it is. I have bonded with all the 8th grade girls this year and it just makes me so mad that they will have to wait until high school to be on a dance team agian because it is just so much fun. Just wanted to vent.

I was just wondering, do you guys have to deal with a lot of drama on your teams? I don't know if we're the only ones, but the drama has already started with next year's team! Thanks!

Hey! I just recently made dance team at my school and Im really nervous... I mean the people on it r AMAZING and I know im not as good as them! I can dance but sum of them r way more advanced than I am .... Im also having trouble with my fuetes... Im worried that I wont feel comfortable and that I mite not be able to keep up! Wut shud i do?

hey!!
my name is Meg and I am a sopohmore at Colchester High School. I made the dance team this year, very exciting! It is a BIG thing to make our dance team, 96 girls tried out last year, and 14 made it. 21 actually( and seriously) tried out and 11 made it. I was one. I have been dance for a few years, more jazz but i love to dance. I will get pictures up as soon as we start competing.

Oh crap I just notised this communitys only for cheerleading...It says on the rules do not talk about anything but cheerleading......cheerleading isnt even dance anyway!!!AT ALL cheerleading, is...cheering!!!! Can you not talk about dance...neither wonder no-ones joining becuase your rule of only cheerleading!!!!! Why call it DANCE_teams....! Make it about DANCE DANCE..balet, jazz, tap, street, square etc.....then you'll have guets in not time!!!!!!!

I'm sorry there's no icon, and it's not very pretty of a journal yet.. but give me ideas guys and i'll make it awesome. :D
Okay so im nicci, i'm on the Roseville High School dance team In michigan. i love it, i've been dancing since i was 4, i quit in 7th grade to go w. cheerleading, that i failed at, so i tried out for the dance team in 10th grade, and made it, then i made it this year ((11th grade)) and here we go. :]
so hey, tell me about yourself guys :D
