It was never my intent to bring you tears.
If I made you...sad,
could I make it up to you?
I would die if I hurt you.
If I did something...bad,
could we start over?
Losing your friendship is one of my worst fears.
If I did something...???
could I make it new?
If I lost you I don't know what I would do.
I know I am not the man, I could have been,
should have been,needed to be,for you.
As a friend,lover,father,brother...
I have failed all I hold dear.
Time and again, I have fallen short, when I could do more,
say more, things I wanted to do.
Would you stand by me? Could you stand by me?
Year after year?
To all of you whom I have let down...
If I said "I am sorry"...
Would you believe me?
Could you believe me?
Would you run me out of town?...
If I died... would anyone grieve me?
