First of all, congrats to AFI on the moonman!
My name is Kristen, I'm 17, and from NY. I've been a member of the DF for the past three years. If you see this post in other communities, its because I just joined a couple today, so sorry! I've seen them once at Darien lake for Warped Tour.
I have a bunch of pictures from their show, as well as sound clips (just message me if you want 'em). I'll share the pictures, but I don't know how to upload sound clips.
I have two for today:
1. This was at the beginning of the show, and its just Davey and Hunter. Davey and Hunter
2. Davey came out two sets before theirs to see Everytime I Die. You can't tell in this one (I'm photoshopping the others to make them clearer), but he was wearing purple and black stripped socks XD. The sun came out, and he busted out the most adorable parasol. Davey and his umbrella

| AFI FanBook Project |
[15 Aug 2006|02:59pm] |
Okay, so we were crazily inspired by the paper-chain of fanletters [such an awesome project] and thought it'd be fun to set up something similar to be given to them when they come to the UK. but NOT just for UK fans.
So we've come up with the AFI FanBook Project.
We'd like people to send us postcard-sized notes that will be collected together and bound into a big book of fanletters. Kinda like Postsecret. only... they don't have to be secrets, they can be ANYTHING you want to tell AFI.
Clickclickclick for more details and stuff
basically: you make a postcard,
you join the mailing list and we send you the address to post your postcard to,
you post it,
then we do all the rest.
We're aiming to get the finished FanBook to AFI at one of their UK shows in October so we'd like you to send your card by September 30th at the latest.
[you'll be mailing to me in the UK]
this is pretty young at the moment so i still have to work out a few bugs - so feel free to ask questions and make suggestions etc.
if you're interested, please spread the word!

Ladies! Opinions on the new album?
I find it more mellow than STS but I'm loving that 80s vibe. I think it starts a little slow but picks up momentum a few tracks in. If you held a gun to my head and made me choose one favourite track I'd pick Kiss and Control, but who am I kidding, I love them all :) And judging by the recent show at the Electric Ballroom, the new material translates fabulously live too. I can't wait to hear the rest of this album live!

I'd like to say welcome to the new members and greetings to our present members. I know we are all in a frenzy over AFI's new song (with fantastic music video) 'Miss Murder'. As semi-long time fan of AFI (ever since Black Sails in the Sunset- I was 11, awww) I am EXTREMELY happy that AFI came off of hiatus and is coming back to us with a new album and tour. I say rejoice and make Saturday special and wear your AFI apparel. Support AFI and dance about!! Send in pics of you wearing your shirt!!!

So, I'd like to introduce myself here. I'm a girl, an AFI fan (duh), and I just found this community. It's awesome. It's better than the one I was in. They didn't like the fact that Hunter was a dj at a MisShapes party and I posted the flyer, and it got denied by one of the mods. I have pictures of Hunta from the party too, if anyone wants to see.
ahem. Ok, pardon the babble, I think I have a fever. It's hot in here.
I wanted to say hi to the other members, and not seem like one of those who only watches a community, y'know?
OH! and has anyone seen that picture of Davey taken by Abbey Drucker? It's beautamous.

I've been told AFI came up with the acronym first, and the meaning later. So my question is this: if you could come up with a different meaning for AFI, what would it be? (and no cheating "I wouldn't change it, it's perfect for them as it is" type answers!)

Okay, this has been bugging me for quite some time now, but since I'm such a procrastinator, I haven't decided to ask you gals about it until now.
What the hell is that on Davey's necklace? I can't find a clear enough picture to tell for myself, but in every picture of him I have, he's got the same necklace on. Do any of you know what it is?
