It's been a while since this community has been updated, but I felt the need to get this out there.
I'm not sure if many of you are on the mailing list for Garth Nix's website, but I got a gem today with a link to this:
Nix to pitch Sabriel film package for Hollywood
MEGASELLING FANTASY AUTHOR Garth Nix is poised to take Hollywood by storm. He has assembled an A-list dream team in order to bring Sabriel, the first book in his Old Kingdom trilogy, to the screen. The group will pitch the package to studios later this month via Steve Fisher at APA. Nix is co-writing the screenplay with Dan Futterman, actor and Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Capote, and Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner at Plan B (Brad Pitt's company) will produce. The director will be Anand Tucker (Shopgirl, Hilary and Jackie).
I myself am incredibly apprehensive, but that's because many book-to-film adaptations don't properly represent their book origins. Though, the article does mention that Nix majored in screenwriting in college and will be co-writing the script. Any thoughts here?

Hello, again!
I've created a new Old Kingdom community wyverly_college, dedicated to rating people as characters! Come and find out what character you are most like! ^^ Yeah, and I noticed it is incorrectly spelled, but it wouldn't have fit. ;-;
If you'd like to affiliate, feel free to contact me.
(X-posted to other communities).
Thanks.

Alright! To anyone in any of these communities who expressed an interest,
An invisionboard has been created, at http://s13.invisionfree.com/Charterbound/index.php, and a poll regarding the setting has been set up. Feel free to join up and vote, if you're interested in the Abhorsen RP. Thanks!

Hi, Abhorsen fans.
I've been rereading the trilogy, and it occurred to me that this would be a great roleplay setting. So I looked around, and there's not much by way of message-board format RP to be had. Basically, I'm looking around to see if there's any interest in starting a pre-trilogy, circa Charter-formation game. Would anyone else enjoy this?
Cross-posted to various Abhorsen LJ comms. Thanks!

I'm curious to know which book of the trilogy is your favorite.

I found out that Garth Nix has notes for two other books in the Old Kingdom Series, but he's not sure if he will continue them or not. He said not to expect them for about 5 years. Anyway, have more icons. Teaser: 2. ( Here are the restCollapse ) ~Marie~

So, more icons, I hope you like them, take any you want, if you do it'd be nice if you told me which you like, so I can improve future icon making (and also what you don't like, constructive criticism is always good). However, it's nothing is compulsory except no hot-linking.
This will be the last set of Old Kingdom icons I'm making for this batch, I'm now making icons for The Wind Singer Trilogy, The Dark Flight Down and The Book of Dead Days by Marcus Sedgewick and for World War One poetry. So, you might not see me for a while, but I'll be back next time I decide to make Sabriel icons. Thanks. xxx.

Hello, I decided to make some more icons, and figured I'd post them. They're all Garth Nix; Old Kingdom icons. If you want them, feel free to take them, but it'd be nice if you commented and let me know which you like, if any. Thanks.

( Rest of icons behind cutCollapse )

Hey, I'm relativly new here, and I have loved Sabriel since I read it last year, when I was on holiday, along with Lirael. I nearly cried when I finished them, and then realised I had to wait until CHRISTMAS for Abhorsen.
I go on about them at school so much that my friend made me lend her them, only she loves Lirael more, and my best friend bought Sabriel and is reading it now.
Sabriel is my fave book of all time, and Garth Nix is my fave author, along with Phillip Pullman and William Nicholson. My fave bits are when Sabriel has been hit, and Touchstone's old berseker blood makes its first appearance, or when she goes, "I used to dream about The Old Kingdom. Proper Charter Magic. Dead to bind. Princes to be-""Rescued?""Married". I squealed at the top of my voice at that and got strange looks of the Cypriots around me lol. My familys used to me. and to think it all started because I'd just read His Dark Materials, and was in love, and Waterstones had a 3 for 2 offer, and I'd already picked one, and Dad goes oooh, Phillip Pullamn liked these, and I was like, "PASS THEM HERE!" lol

Happy Birthday SABRIEL: Ten Years Old on the 13th of May 2005
While archiving computer files, I found the invitation to the Australian launch of SABRIEL, at Sydney’s Mortuary Station (where coffins were loaded to be taken by rail to Rookwood Necropolis). The book was launched there on 13th May 1995. There have been many incarnations of the book since, and other launch parties, but that was the first. Of course, is a book’s birthday its launch date, or when it’s finished (or accepted for publication)?
