| |
The long out-of-print TRAVIS RYAN / DEATH BY A THOUSAND CUTS split CD is now available for digital download @ http://chromepeelerrecords.bandcamp.com/album/travis-ryan-death-by-a-thousand-cuts
ABOUT THE RELEASE:
One of the more interesting pairings of harsh, electronic horror, upstart noise duo Death By A Thousand Cuts team up with CATTLE DECAPITATION vocalist Travis Ryan to transmit an hour of grim, nightmarish drone noise. Travis Ryan's four tracks open the disc with an edgy, paranoid ambience that mixes environmental buzzes and electronic hum with blurry theremin melodies and hushed buzzsaw tones, evoking the faint but discernible hum of electricity you feel when standing at the edge of an urban landscape in the middle of the night. Occasionally Ryan's droning dread lurches into a staticky overload that recalls the chopped up circuit burn of John Wiese, but more often drifts through a halogen-lit dreamworld similar to a grittier, urban take on Glass Throat Records atmospherics.
The other side of this split is haunted by Death By A Thousand Cut's nightmarish free electronic designs. DBATC's industrial hallucinations are conjured from noxious bass sinewaves and cloudy keyboard drones, curling upwards out of metal-on-metal carnage and blasts of laser-beam effects pedal violence, and the music becomes strangely beautiful, especially with the cosmic, Troum-meets-Bastard Noise insectoid frequencies of the final track "Approach Of The Black Claw".
STILL AVAILABLE from Chrome Peeler Records:
Unearthly Trance / The Endless Blockade "split" LP (doom vs. power violence)
Merzbow / The Guilt of... "split" LP (Japanese noise legend vs. EYEHATEGOD side project)
Mike IX Williams "That's What the Obituary Said" 7"+poster (EYEHATEGOD vocalist)

About the release:
CPR-14: FINAL SOLUTION "All New Power"
Re-issue of impossible to find 1990 demo from NYC power electronics legends. FINAL SOLUTION created some of the most raw and intense power electronics ever. CPR-12: MERZBOW / THE GUILT OF... Split LP

| DANADAX - "DAXSCAPES II" has been released (dark ambient/noise). (x-posted) |
|
|
| 07:45am 07/08/2008 |
| |
Archive.org download page.
Whereas the material for DANADAX's first LP "DAXSCAPES I" spanned several years, the tracks on the project's second LP reach even further into the past and further into the future. Some of the cuts on "DAXSCAPES II" were made during the time DANADAX's first 2 EPs were recorded (back in late 2004). A heavy majority of the tracks on "DAXSCAPES II" were created during the same sessions for "DAXSCAPES I," (2005 - 2007) and even a few tracks on the second LP were created a year after the first was released (2007 - 2008).
Of special note, which I (Curtis) feel I must include here, "Danger In A Dark Room (Version 2)" was created in mid-to-late 2005, during a time when DANADAX was temporarily a three-person project. Most of the samples were originally recorded by Curtis Whatley and James Westberry. The samples were then given to Curtis D. Cousins (the sole constant member of DANADAX) to manipulate and mix together, while throwing in a few of his own sounds as well. He made several mixes from the same set of samples. The second version in the set of mixes ended up being the agreed-upon final cut amongst the three.
All visual artwork was created by Curtis D. Cousins.

| Radiohead Nude "Lucid Dream" remix |
|
|
| 09:00pm 28/04/2008 |
| |
For all out there who are not aware, Radiohead is allowing folks to do remixes of their song "nude" (see radioheadremix.com).
I'm both hoping folks will enjoy my version of the track (a very dreamy, spooky track that builds to an explosive end), which you can listen to here:
http://www.radioheadremix.com/remix/?id=2073
or here, if the html works:
(I uploaded it with only a week to go, so I'm a latecomer - voting ends MAY 1st!!! - and am hoping you'll vote and share with your friends so they might vote!)
AND
I'm also hoping to listen to remixes of other folks. So if you have one, message me with where I can listen to it. Specifically I'm curious what other Portland/Oregon/Washington folks have made, but ultimately I'd like to hear from everyone wherever they might live.
Most of all, I hope everyone just keeps music alive (both in listening and in creation) as a language, as a means of communicationg, as something beautiful for the soul.
