| Wacom tablet help! |

Hello! I'm new to the comm., and I'm selfish enough to start things off with a plea for help. Maybe one of you will be able to help me with my problem.. So I've got a Wacom Graphire4 tablet hooked up to my iBook G4 and I've never had a problem with it until today. I plugged it in like normal, but instead of the pen registering(for clicking, dragging and drawing) when it touches the tablet, it would do so a few mm above the tablet, making it impossible to draw and difficult to do anything else. This seems like a sensitivity problem, but I've tried all the troubleshooting things I have found that came with the tablet, as well as stuff looked up online, and have tried switching things around under System Preferences, from tip feel from "hard" to "soft" and back again. I have never had this problem before, and I only got the tablet this past Christmas so it's not old. It makes me very sad because I wuv my tablet, and use it constantly.
Anyone have any idea what I can do about this? Much obligigigiged.

| Daily Self-Portraits |
[15 Mar 2006|07:03pm] |
Hey guys. First time posting here. ;P
I am current working on a series in which I do daily self-portraits. There are many reasons I'm doing this but you can read more about it at my Journal. As a first goal, I would like to go for 1000, and perhaps then I will increase that number. Here's the second one, based on a creature I saw in a nightmare:

| wacom tablets: advice needed |
[24 Nov 2005|04:26pm] |
I have a few general questions related to Wacom tablets.
My partner has been drawing for quite some time, but more recently he's begun scanning, editing, and airbrushing his sketches in photoshop. He does everything with a mouse, although still with fabulous results! However, both he and I have been considering a tablet. I told him to wait ... because I'd like to surprise him with one for Christmas ;)
The Questions: 1) Intuos or Graphire? I'm leaning heavily towards Intuos but they are quite expensive.... I would prefer to go with Graphire, but the Intuos appears to have a lot more capabilities, and just looks like it'll perform better. 2) From your own experiences what size would be best? I'm thinking of 4x5 or 6x8. I can see 4x5 being alright ... but is the area too small? 3) Size and then sensitivity: if you accidently press your hand on the drawing surface of the tablet will it make a mark on your digital image? If that's the case than going for the 4x5 might be better, but I'm assuming sensitivity can be tweaked, or does the surface respond to the pen nib alone?
I think those are all of my questions. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated - the sooner the better! Thank you :)
