darkbrother: my first film

Hey peeps. I'm Phil Stevens, a 24 year old indie filmmaker here in Philadelphia. I've just completed my film BELOW MAN after a 2 year run with production and tacked on time in post. Right now im just curious for feedback. So i want to send out free copies of the film on dvd to whoever is interested. If you like the gore and violence; check it out. If you like general indie film work and you're a film student or filmmaker yourself, take a look. Even if you're just into strange experimental type flicks, you may enjoy the film.

Scope out the trailers (forgive the quality) and if you want a copy just send your mailing address to PSPHILLY@AOL.COM

TRAILER 1

TRAILER 2

The trailers are not the best of quality and do not reflect the dvds in anyway. so they're there in case you just want a taste of the film. My apologies ahead of time if you feel this post is in the wrong place or if it reads like spam or some shameless plug. But the film has not been distributed and i'll genuinely want your feedback.

Hey folks. I wanna do a ground explosion. As if a bomb is underground and going off. A small bomb like maybe a grenade or smaller. What is the safest way to do this? I'd rather go for the rocketing dirt into the air as opposed to a fireball. Don't really have the cash to hire a pyrotechnic. How would I go about doing this? Has anyone done anything like this and if so, how?

darkbrother: lighting

Yet another lighting question for you. I'm shooting on set indoors. It's suppose to be a tractor trailer and due to special effects involved and having to film at night. I need a light solution in which to set up to make it appear day when one of the doors to the set opens up. The light will be coming off screen. I just need to create the look of a dark trailer and a door opening up off screen that sheds light into this trailer.

Now, which kinda lighting fixture would I buy exactly and which kinda lights?

We're making a set; the inside of someone's organ. A character gets trapped inside someone's body and finds himself in one of the organs; sorta shunken down but that doesn't matter. I'm using egg crate foam (the bedding stuff) for the walls, and im lighting it with red light bulbs, what would be the best paint color for the actual painting on the foam? Would I go with a sorta pink color? What are your thoughts?

OK duders. Special effects people, set designers, filmmakers, i need your advice.

I'm shooting a scene in which someone is shrunk and inside someone's organ. Let's say someone's stomach. To make this set. What would I do with the walls to texture them and what materials would i need? My concept is to take chicken wire and make the shape but what should I put on the skeleton of the wire? Liquid latex? Find lots of foam sheets or rubber sheets and spray paint or just paint them red with a little pink? How would you do this?

So im getting BLACK SCLERA lenses for my film. Does anyone know a place that sells them without needing a prescription and have high quality? I have found some places but they require you to select the "power" of the lenses. What should I put in? 0.00? Is that non-prescription?

Just got my CANON GL2.
question!

How does the manual audio feature work? What are the proper settings to optimize your audio? Where should the levels be and how do you set them?

does anyone know a company that has fx tackle boxes? Just a container for storing fx supplies while shooting on location?
