Ah, not working. It is grand! This is my Week of Few Responsibilities. Next week I'll be at school's "Survival Camp," whatever the hell that's going to be. The only thing I am as yet sure of is that it will in no way be a camp. Go figure. The following week will be the beginning of School Itself, and I shall be on my way to Nursehood! (Nursedom? Nurseitude? I shall have to come up with some more of these.) It is strange to not have a job. I feel very strongly that it will feel much stranger when it's been more than 4 days.

Right now I'm sitting at Cafe Artiste drinking iced tea and using their free wireless. I had much LiveJournal to catch up on. I am also wondering when my book shipment will arrive, as I am very impatient and need it now rather badly because I Have A Problem. Must have books now! I read part one of the Uglies trilogy, and the other two are in the shipment and they should be here now, damn it! [Flailing] I also ordered the 3 (of 4) books I did not already have in the Protector of the Small series. The one I do have already isn't even the first one, so I haven't read it yet. It's the third one, which I didn't realize when I bought it. I only skimmed the book jacket and it was so cheap! I couldn't help it! I've had that book for at least a year now, probably more like 3 years if I cared enough to think about it more, which I don't. In any case, I shall finally read it soon! I read Uglies the other day, and I am sad that I've had to read other things in between finishing the trilogy because UPS is stupid and does not cater to my every whim. UPS, get with the program!

I read A Wrinkle in Time yesterday. I remembered loving that book when I was made to read it in fifth grade at the age of 10, so I bought it for like $1 at Half Price Books. I did not remember all that talk of Jesus, let me tell you. It was very good, though, and since it was written in 1962, many cliched moments are enjoyable with the knowledge that they weren't cliches at the time. This morning I started reading the second volume of Welsh folklore for children that I bought in Builth Wells on my trip. The way they tell the stories, in order to make them "for children" is so hilarious, seriously. The dialog is the best.
"It's a huge dragon with two sparks of fire leaping from its mouth. One spark is heading for Ireland and the other for France. What does it mean?"
"The dragon is your sign," said [Merlin to King Uther]. "You too are fierce and powerful when you defend your country."
"But what about the two sparks?"
"Uther, you will have a son who is even more powerful than you. He will rule the whole country from the Irish Sea to the channel that separates us from France. The enemy won't steal and inch of our country while he is king."
"But I have no wife, let alone a son," cried Uther.
"Then you must do something about it," said Merlin.
"You're right!" said the king. "From this moment on I shall change my name to Uther Pendragon. That should attract the girls. What do you think?"
"It's an excellent name, Uther. But, come along, you have a battle to win before dawn. You can start looking for a wife in the afternoon, if you have time!"

f;al khf;JF ;DHj 'H FDSJ AKJ!!! HILARIOUS.

Anyway, I'm having problems picking what to read because I don't want to be in the middle of something when my books arrive, which should be super soon. Honestly, I thought they'd be here today, but now I think tomorrow. I want to continue with the trilogy right away, and I don't want too much between books one and two. I got a copy of The Picture of Dorian Gray, but I want to read that later, which is how I also feel about the book my dad lent me (I forget the title and author, but it is about his experiences in the Holocaust, his philosophy of life, and therapy with his patients) and the book Grandma Carol lent me, which is a mystery by some local author. I've got three shelves of books to read, but the one I want is in the clutches of UPS! Intolerable.

I must now continue to talk about books. The shelves next to me here at Cafe Artiste are Filled with many books. They are left here to be picked up and read and then brought back (or, I assume, replaced). I am quite fond of this aspect of the cafe. Looking up just now, I was startled by the number of R.L. Stine Goosebumps books I saw within grabbing distance. I have decided to take them home with me and bring them back later. I thought those books were awesome when I was younger.

Now that I've been here for something like 3 hours, I should really go. Also, I have not had anything to eat all day except for about ten pieces of chocolate when I woke up. I should perhaps acquire nourishment. Or maybe another milkshake, like dinner last night?
