Applying item template apparently does nothing on large holding bibs

EG 3.17.5, PG 18

Steps to reproduce:

1. Find a bib with over 100 items attached
2. Make sure you're logged in with a workstation associated with the branch that has a large amount of holdings
3. Cataloging -> Retrieve by ID
4. Open the bib record -> Add Holdings
5. Type a call number
6. Click Item Attributes and apply a template
7. This is the console error:

ERROR TypeError: can't access property "shortname", t.org.get(...) is null

It's possible to recover from this by clicking back to Holdings tab, and back to Item Attributes again. You'll then see your template applied.
