5:06 pm - Self-imposed challenges to make a re-play more interesting?
|
algeh
|
I'm thinking of re-playing the original BOF again. I get nostalgic about it because it was the first JRPG I bought rather than rented, and thus the first one I finished rather than speed-ran as far as I could in three days and then had to give up on. I know there isn't much in the way of hidden stuff (I've done all of the easter eggs I've heard about, which isn't much) so I'm thinking of making up some sort of self-imposed challenge to keep it interesting.
Any thoughts?

It's hard to find good Breath of Fire fanfiction sometimes... so share your recommendations with everyone! What kind of stuff do y'all like reading?
At the moment I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE AngelKitty1's Benevolent Monsters. She's the author who did, several centuries ago, Of Dragons and Angels. Her new story is 100 times better. It's probably the best AU BoF fic I've read... maybe even the best BoF fic... she's only just started it, really. You DEFINITELY need to go read it.

Over at http://xsasukerebornx.livejournal.com/13456.html I have three small Fou-LuxMami 'fics' I need some help with his speech. (I might have to go off of the 1912 edition of Macbeth. . .) And by the way, I have to change the word of an item. Many Thanks,
Shinomori Kyo/xsasukerebornx (the last and first thing that I wrote for BoF was back in July 2004. on ff.net)
current mood: I'm replaying the game.

Just here to advertise this fantastic game! In it, we currently have a Nina II, Ryu III, and Rei. <3
 | | oh, Discordia! and the world grows darker! ---
--- World’s End, where a city left to ruin is slowly being rebuilt. Those who had been there before spoke of older gods, ones long gone now. Instead, there are three that now sit in power. They speak of a Crimson King who watched them with his mad red eyes, but even kings can bow to someone in good time. The world has Moved On. You wake up far from home, but look a little closer – maybe you’re not so far away at all. The Castle That Never Was sits up at the very boundary of the city while the Raccoon City Police Department is just a block from the center. Shin-Ra Company stands now only at five stories versus the seventy of before, and the Triforce of Hyrule is etched into the stone of the Sanctuary. Out in the sea – sometimes as red as roses, red as blood – the Dark Tower stands, lobstrocities acting as ever-questioning sentinels along the shore. Humans, Demons, Elves, and everything in between have been forced to live alongside each other, and direwolves and wights from Westeros roam the land along with the T-virus mutated undead. Dementors and Redead lurk in the graveyard, hoping to catch the unwary. The gods here hold all in balance, the black, the white, and the grey in between. Or at least, they’re trying to. For another goddess is moving, seeking freedom from her cell in the Dark Tower out to sea – commala, commala, commala, can you say Discordia? ---
--- A Trial by Fire is a panfandom roleplay originally based on the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. | | | Rules | FAQ | Places and Landmarks | Glossary Taken | Applications | Wanted | Reserved Suggestions/Complaints Post | Credits |

I'm trying to decide between getting the BoF 1-5 artbook, or simply the one for BoF 5. I've seen a few samples of the first one but not as much for BoF 5.
How much stuff is specific to the Dragon Quarter artbook? That one's more rare than the Official Complete Works one, and it has a lot of preliminary sketches, but I get the feeling the Complete Works book has more of those yummy, full-color pages I like so much. I'm a little torn.
P.S. Unrelated, but is there any secret trick to activating your account at Dragon-Tear.net?

7:45 pm - Breath of Fire Wiki

Don't know if anyone knows about this yet, but there's a Breath of Fire Wiki on that Wikia site:
http://bof.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page
There's not a lot on there right now, but maybe some BoF fans around here can add to it so it can become a better page. Spread the BoF love ;P!

2:36 pm - japanese sites exist?

So I've tried looking for Japanese sites for any Breath of fire game and I can't find any fansites. Specifically I'm looking for BoF 5 but at this point I'm not picky since I can't find anything. Does anyone have any links?

4:53 pm - BOF IV manga is now being scanlated. :3
|
dogemperor
|
First scanlations are finally being done--the scanlations are probably going to go slower than with most other manga, in part because there *are* sections where archaic Japanese is being used (and must be translated).
Something-or-other Scanlations has the honour of being the first group to do this, and they have chapter 1 (of volume 1 of the manga--there are 5 chapters per volume) up here.
(And again, if you like, I do encourage you to buy the manga in hopes that Mag Garden will license an official English translation. HMV Japan is selling volume 1 and volume 2 (info on international shipping in English here), and Amazon Japan also carries vol. 1 and vol. 2 (though they will only ship internationally via FedEx 2nd Day air, and are thus more expensive in shipping costs).)
EDIT: The scanlation group also has a LJ over at someorother (membership restricted to 18+).

3:00 pm - Some drabbles.

I have a few drabbles to post up here done for my December writing project. There isn't anything too serious, or even slash -which, for me, is rare-, so enjoy.
Breath of Fire I&II Drabbles
Fou-Lu Related Drabbles
Based on reactions to these, I may write a few more, and I may also dig out some of the Breath of Fire icons I made years ago to share.
