yesterday while we were at Lu's, the boys were playing with their cousin, Elena. she had been scratching at a couple spots but no one thought anything of it. (i didn't even notice.) well today she woke up with full blown, head-to-toe chicken pox. we're really just worried about Doyle since he's such a little guy still.

off to do some google-fu.

i am one of the 10 McCain voters out there who is NOT discouraged/disappointed/saddened/sick over Barack Obama winning? no, he isn't who i voted for, but i feel totally okay about it. as i posted on MANY of my fellow McCain supporters' journals:

there is no person or situation beyond the redemptive powers of God. with Christ there are no set-backs, only set-ups for comebacks. God has the power to use ANYONE- even people who are totally against Him (not saying Obama is or isn't) for an amazing amount of good. He has before in the past, and I am confident He will do it again. i see it all as an opportunity to prove the power of God and of trusting in God.

plus (i know several have posted this already) but with the sordid history of the United States in mind- how awesome is this picture?

current glasses (which i've had for the last 6 years):
Photobucket

proposed new glasses:

like i said, i've been wearing these glasses since i was 19 (i'll be 25 at the end of january.) not only am i just very over having black cat's eye-ish frames, but they are sort of like the last little bit of my appearance that ties me to my old, worldly lifestyle. in the book of Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah (better known by their forced upon pagan names- Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego) were thrown into the fiery furnance and when they came out not only were they unharmed, but they didn't even smell like smoke. well, God delivered me out of this pretty self-destructive and self-seeking way of life and i feel like these glasses are making me still smell like smoke! that probably sounds silly, but it is not a silly thing to me and i have been desperately wanting to get rid of these old glasses and not just replace them, but replace them with something different in style and color.

so, opinions? i know i do NOT want black (or grey) glasses, round glasses, or wire or metal glasses. these are a deep eggplant color on the outside and a pretty translucent mango orange color on the inside. there are a couple others that are similar, one which is a brighter purple, and one that i REALLY like that is thicker on the ear pieces. alas, it is a men's style though and i doubt they would have any small enough for my face.

can we do away with the electoral college already? i mean, i get why it was put in place lo those many years ago, but here in the world of tv and internet, can we start rocking the popular vote? it makes me sad that there are still states marked as still voting or still processing and the election is over. this is why people (my husband) think their votes don't matter.
