Heh, I'd missed this one on my previous list, and then Shinsen goes and subs the first ep already! First of all, my dearest datenshi_blue did the timing for this, hee hee, and secondly... SEIYUU CATCH!Okay, put in a room together: Atobe Keigo... Kikumaru Eiji... and Kamui of X-1999. Hee hee! Suzumura Kenichi, who voices Kamui, also has notable roles such as Hikaru from Ouran High School Host Club, Asuka Shinn from Gundam Seed Destiny, Okita from Gintama, Taki Shunsuke from Gakuen Heaven, and Lavi from D. Gray-man. Quite a varied list, but he's got this squeaky, genki voice, so it suits most of those roles well (except, heh, for Kamui, actually...) Another nice thing about this - BISEINEN! But more interestingly, the character design is strongly reminiscent of Saiyuki... and sure enough, it's created by Minekura Kazuya, the creator of Saiyuki. Whoooo! (And I'm guessing the slashability will be there as well, heh.) Okay, add this to the list of my new downloads! |

I went here and went through the descriptions. Here are the series, if fansubbed, which I hope to download this new anime season: Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's - just because I'm curious Kyou Kara Maou Season 3 - whoooooo! Macross Frontier - never saw any Macross, probably would have liked it, chance to see at the beginning of this new series xxxHOLIC Season 2 - yay, Watanuki is back! Da Capo II - Season 2 - one of my ridiculous harem anime series that I don't know why I watch, lol Code Geass R2 - yay, more TrainWreck! Lelouche! Junjo Romantica - shounen ai, heh Itazurana Kiss - high school love comedy Nabari no Oh - ninja series Vampire Knight - fantasy high school - the "night class" are vampires Amatsuki - Edo era fantasy Blassreiter - from GONZO - fantasy about people turning into monsters, includes mecha S.A. (Special A) - high school situations Wagaya no Oinari-sama - sacred fox, fantasy Monochrome Factor - looks like subtextual shounen ai like Kotetsu Sangokushi, heh RD Senno Chosashitu - cyberspace sci-fi Toshokan Senso - futuristic, social commentary I thought that this past season, except for MS Gundam 00 (and not counting the ongoing series like Bleach and Naruto Shippuuden), there was slim pickings. But I'm really excited about this new season, whoooooo! |

Some of this 3-episode OVA echoes other series - Fullmetal Alchemist, for one - and you've got your rebel anti-hero type seen in bazillions of other series (Devil May Cry comes to mind), but even so there's enough to this plot's twist to satisfy. ( Spoilers for ep. 1 of Strait Jacket aheadCollapse ) |

Okay, rant first since it's not a spoiler: All right, if you have a TV series that is aired in HIGH DEFINITION, do NOT fucking upload available RAWS that are obviously not from an HDTV... similarly, do NOT SUB said raws! Fortunately Anonymous had the real thing for their sub... a huge reason I will be collecting theirs. *grrrrr* /rant ( Spoilers for Episode 2, though there's some useful info hereCollapse ) |

So far I've watched first eps of six new series, so I thought I'd drop a note here about them. Listing in order of how I like them: 1) Mobile Suit Gundam 00 (see icon for Gundam Meister (pilot) Lockon Stratos) Whooo, SLICK! The animation and graphics are crisp and sharp, the four new Gundams rock, the characters already seem like a lot of fun, and Yun Kouga is doing the character design - what's not to love?? Oh, wait, there's more! VOICE ACTING!! The lead character, Setsuna, is voiced by Miyano Mamoru who voiced Yagami Light in Death Note, and another Gundam pilot, Lockon Stratos (icon) is voiced by *SQUEE* Miki Shinichiro! *swoon* *THUD* (Heh, Ritsuka of Loveless and Heero of Gundam Wing, meet your love child in the character of Setsuna!) Article on the screening event in Japan on ANN here . Okay, so that's an A+ from me - the action was fast, the intrigue was Gundam-worthy, and the graphics blew me away. And Miki. *lovelove* 2) Dragonaut: the Resonance Okay, this was all right - I'll be watching this, too. At least there will be enough seinen (like MSG00) to keep me interested, heh. Though I'm more interested in some of the male-male relationships! Still, it's formulaic (boy meets mystery girl, *yawn*), but has some interesting elements like the Dragonauts and the nasty beast men. 3) Blue Drop Well, this was SLOW... but I think I'll download anyway, though I won't run to watch, probably. Hmmm, not much to say - girl with issues meets mystery girl roommate, yadda yadda. Looks like some mecha get in there. Okay. 4) Clannad Well, it's just TOO "Boy Meets Mystery Girl and his Life is Changed Forever". *snore* The character designs are right out of similar shoujo shows like AIR or Da Capo. I might watch a couple more, but... *shrug* 5) Doujin Work STUPID. That's all I've got to say. Pass. 6) The Skull Man I guess mystery men are more interesting than mystery girls. *sigh* But I'm not liking the hazy artwork, not after MSG00 spoiled me so bad, heh. That's all I've come across so far - if y'all know of any others to look for, please, please do share! |

Wheee, the new season has started! And right out of the gate was one that I was really looking forward to, having seen a bit of the manga in Shonen Jump (and I have scanlations, which I need to catch up on, heh). (new icon is from Claymore, heh) No spoilers - I just wanted to say that I like all the muted colors. I think the only really bright colors are Clare's golden eyes when she fights and the red, red blood. Even the Yoma blood is a muted purple. Here's a screencap of Clare and Raki: Eclipse, who just finished Pumpkin Scissors, and also subbed Shakugan no Shana and Fate/stay night, did a pretty nice job on it, providing notes where needed. Nice font. Paku Romi (Hitsugaya of Bleach, Edward Elric of FMA, Temari of Naruto, etc.) does the voice of Teresa, whom we haven't seen yet. The seiyuu for Clare, Kuwashima Houko, did some notable "spunky girl" voices such as Wendy of Gun x Sword and Hattie in Argentosoma. Hmm, liked the OP and ED - whoever the lead singer for Nightmare (OP) was, yummy voice... Go, download! |

Checked out so far: Under9000 - spelling errors and some weird translations in spots. Skip this one. ansf - boring font and the translation is a little off, compared to the manga. kubusubs - interesting font and actually had explanation notes. Translation is closer to manga. ( Cut for spoilers for Ep 13Collapse ) Am downloading Animanda now - also had their Ep 12, but didn't look at it. Was unable to get the DG (DeathGod) version 'cause pointblank's tracker is down again (or else they ran it off, heh). |

I'm only at the OP, but already I wanted to share my immediate first impression of Code Geass, which thankfully is being subbed in .avi by Shinsen/ureshii... Hello! CLAMP meets Gundam Seed! This new CLAMP offering dabbles in the Giant Mecha field of anime, and already there's a Seed-ish feel to it, bwahahaha! Character design is more Tsubasa Chronicle than X, or maybe somewhere in between... Anyway, wheee, another series to d'load! (Meanwhile, I've got to burn off Black Blood Brothers - finished WAY TOO SOON - and Tsubasa Chronicle S2. |
