"Not all who wander are lost.."

About ( All about me )

Broken Oct. 3rd, 2009 @ 11:50 pm

I am not a half looking for a whole, I am a whole waiting for an equal. -Robert Nick Redi

BROKEN

There is nothing more fragile or strong as the human spirit.

It could hang on by the thread of a feather and survive the harshest of adversities but also be crushed by the simplest of things, so simply with what is commonly known as bad luck or a bad relationship.

Everyone you walk past on the streets holds an entire life story chalk full of nuts and good people, crazy relationships and possibly one bad break up.

And as you walk past almost gazing into people's lives with your mind you have to conclude a truth, that we have or we all will feel broken at some point in our lives.

No matter who we are, there is a point of wondering if the path we are on is the right one and while on that path we will fall and need to pick ourselves up... and in-between those moments of steady pacing and free falling is a period of uncertainty and possibly. What gets us there? What got us here? More so the question should be and the truth is that what keeps us in this broken state ... is a feeling that we have failed at our prime goal.

We either lost the battle, never started or have still yet to try to move when we know we should.

We feel broken.

When talking medical science there are 3 phases our body goes thru to heal broken bones. I have to wonder... how many phases are there to mend broken spirits, broken lives, and broken hearts. If we compare life to bones, let’s go with 3.

One: The Reactive Phase:

Anyone who has broken a bone can tell you it hurts, the extent of the pain may vary but it hurts is the general commonality.

And in our relationships or emotions can be just as fragile and the pain can hurt in much the same way, most times even worse.

After a break, the common emotional response is frustration or anger... if you feel angry, hurt feelings can make us also feel weak because we can often times get drained of our emotional reserves using up too much of our time just being angry.

It’s a circular cycle though... You have to feel just enough upset about your life in order to want to change it, but not so much it becomes detrimental to moving on.

Being comfortable with your life might just mean you find nothing wrong with it. And if you find nothing wrong with it then why would you want to fix it?

It’s the age old saying, “If something isn’t broken. Don't fix it.”, right?

On the other hand, with anger, you run the risk of being "Jaded". According to Google jaded means: “Worn out; wearied, cynically or pretentiously callous, exhausted or indifferent.”

There's no time frame to how long you can feel angry but you'll know that you are and if you can tell, so can others. This comfortable feeling being angry all the time just keeps you secluded and alone. It's a drug because you feel strong for it. But like any drug it has its side effects. Hardening your heart is never the answer. Picking up the pieces, is.

There is an upside to anger... it reminds us we are unhappy with our present circumstance. It gives us a sort of courage or forward thrust in the direction to moving on. It forces us to think about being some place better than where we are. So anger should remind us to move and the feeling of wanting to exert our energy to move is a result of all the bottled up emotion that anger can cause.

So when I think reactive, I think in reaction to... in reaction to being hurt you feel anger and that is okay because anger makes you move on to better days.

Phase Two: The Reparative Phase:

Each person deals with pain or frustration differently.

Some people go out. They use friends to help forget their troubles. The atmosphere and the sounds drown out their own thoughts and lingering feeling. Other people become a drug for their hurt. Moving on from one person to another never stopping to remember why they're even doing, and maybe they don’t even know they’re doing it but it isn’t solving the problem, its avoiding it. They convince themselves it’s the right thing to do because it feels good. They’re like leaves on the wind with times of highs and lows. It comes to a point that they might not be able to stop. And just might pass by something good... but truthfully they wouldn't know what to do with it anyway.

Some people don't deal at all. They bottle up their feelings and act as if nothing ever happened. They can forget months of trying and pursuing someone and file it away, smile happily but inside they feel completely the opposite.

You know if you can stop yourself from crying time after time, there may come a time when you realize something has happened. Something hardens within you and one day you might find it impossible to cry. Feeling emotion-less is one of the worst feelings.

Tears are good. People think it’s a sign of weakness but its not, it’s a sign of relief of strength and of letting go. There is a healing in it, a feeling of bravery, and it's like being naked in a different kind of way.

The best mind set for repairs is baby steps. One day at a time, one aspect of a room, or of your life. Fix it, if you can. Change it, if you want to. When the time feels right to, you'll know. But stop and think about what matters most or what should matter most to your life and focus on good things; positive thoughts, positive attitudes.

Doctors prescribe drugs for the pain when we break our bones. But there’s always the threat of becoming an addict, too dependent on something outside ourselves to heal the wounds. And even as kids we only have the training wheels on for so long until we’d feel ridiculous. We push ourselves to be older faster and then younger longer. We lose that worry about being ridiculed for our handicaps as we get older but still inside we never forget the flaws we see in ourselves.

There are things in life that are good addictions, things that exist simply to make one smile. Sometimes these seemingly simple things help us cope; a smile, or an encouraging message from the most unlikely of places. If we are calm enough and ready to hear the message they send us. If we understand what’s being said every day so subtly so quietly then we might find the life we once thought was so hard so complex is just so simple.

Phase Three: The Remodeling Phase:

Changing is the hardest and most subtle of all phases. While waiting is a part of life, I have to wonder if we feel like we've been waiting our entire life then how would we know the difference, when will we know when the waiting is over?

Carrie Bradshaw says, "Isn't delayed gratification the definition of maturity?”

It’s true we have to be patient but why is it we have to be mature to understand pain... and what does that even mean? Is it a naive thought to feel we are unable to be hurt or to see ourselves as invincible, beyond pain. There's a fine line between confidence and arrogance. Even superman's greatest weakness is not his vulnerability to kryptonite but it is his own heart, his feelings. It’s as if opening our eyes makes us see the good less and realize the evil that can exist in the world...

Maybe it’s coping with it. That’s the real maturity. That would be the end goal, re-shaping ourselves to be stronger against the things that would hurt us and protecting our childish naive hearts that still beat hopeful within us.

There is something to be said about "Change", it can be so fast or so slow that you don't even know you've changed until you already have.

So one day we'll wake up to sunny days again and soon our glasses will be half full. We won't have to hide away our feelings and we can feel that much more complete for it.

Our lives don't end even when we feel so lost or broken. Like a broken sword the pieces can be melted and re-forged to be strong again. So must we, melt away the life that once was into something new, someone stronger. One day at a time.

Good Luck Apr. 22nd, 2009 @ 11:17 pm
Sunday was a pretty nice start. Woke up with Joe we had breakfast. Other than the nat that was flying around the table i had very little worries running about my head.

So when i got home I felt on top of it. I was in a hurry though and backing up onto my driveway i heard this horrendous scratching like as if jets of water were hitting my car as i backed up scrapping my car a little i knew i had been in too much of a rush and felt like shit because of it ... my car could look worse... and so could my neighbors wall.

I sent a text to joe. not sure if he got it. And I guess no response is better than one you don't really want to hear so saying nothing was the right thing to do. . . but i could have used a hug.

Then at Pala's I made a fool of myself. I won some lost more but ended up with a hundred.

a lady called me out as i left the blackjack table... saying, "you're a poor card player... you've lost me a lot of money today." I smiled sheepishly as i left thinking what a fucking bitch... but just couldn't bring myself to say it.

this woman was blowing smoke directly in the direction of my mom and i have to say i hate smoke altogether. i hate it for killing my grandma i hate it for insnaring my grandpa. i hate the stench of it how it clings and makes me feel disgusting and gross... so you can imagine how it bugged the shit out of me that someone has the lack of courtesy to blow it in another direction. I told her to have a little more respect. Next time I'm gonna work up a huge fart stand on the chair and let-er-rip.

Sometimes i have half a mind to carry a squirt bottle or if i was really feeling ballsy I'd sip some water and spit it at the perpetrator.

Now i know this just sounds like i have some regressed anger issues... but i guess its better i have the thought of it rather than actually doing it.

I just feel like I concede way too much in my life.

I'm 24 and I should be stronger than I am.

I see other people come into the office some my age and while i feel like I'm flipping burgers it could be better than an alternative. I should be grateful.

I felt like I had the worst luck in the world on Sunday. And I felt alone in that. Like a little black rain cloud hovered over head pissing on me as I went about my way trying to hope that I'd hit a jack pot and called it a life. Life on interest and happy thoughts. quit my job, work out with a trainer and spend my days making things better in my life... things that get neglected or i feel i have no time for.

The truth is anything in life could be felt as unimportant. we place as much importance as we want no more no less than what we feel we ought.

I put too much thought in thinking and wondering and worrying. And I forget how to live. I don't know if I could have fun sometimes. I grew up way too fast.

Okay the not knowing how to have fun part is a little harsh against me. I do enjoy myself and being around a select few mostly joe and my family. I like it that way i really do. Joe and I had a long discussion about this when we first started dating. probably one of my more depressing moments or topics.

I tend to think that its not just the quantity or quality of friends but the fact that I placed/place way too much expectation on people. everyone in someway shape or form has let me down. from preschool to present day they don't stack up, they fall short or they don't even try at all.

I blame myself and my imagination. But for just once I'd like to be out thought and anticipated surprised in the way that doesn't make me uneasy.

And meanwhile as I could stare off and think of a billion thoughts, be miles and miles and miles away... the reality is i never move. and thats just it i feel i dont move fast enough

I have wasted countless time and let people down by over thinking how it should all play out. Instead of actually trying

And its those high expectations for myself that keep me the most stagnant I move the bar up so fast that as much as i climb it just never seems to me to ever get better.

......

On Sunday at around 1:30 pm ... a 28 year old man's life was cut short due to an unexpected heart attack. He was an Insurance Business Manager ... a coworker of mine. No family of his own but I think he had siblings and of course parents other relatives who can not believe how fast life can be taken away...

and I thought my luck was bad because my food order of beef stir fry noodles had mushrooms in it. I'm llergic to mushrooms.

People... mainly myself ... get so caught up in the most unimportant things in life. for what?

my story ended well. I took home some money more than what i brought. I took back the noodles and asked if they could make a different batch because i couldnt eat it and because i was so kind about it the lady was please to help me she thanked me for being so understanding and i passed by that mean lady who called me out when we were leaving thinking about how much money she wasted when she just could have easily left that table or saved her money altogether.

No i guess people just go forward head first never knowing what outcome and hopefully not thinking too much about the decisions... just live. just be happy. just try to enjoy every part of every person you care for and hope that they would do the same for you.

cause i understand that no one can comfort me but me allowing myself to be comforted

no one can understand me unless i want to be understood

i can't change unless i really want to

i can only live as much as i let myself.

i can be as afraid and troubled sad and frustrated as i let myself be

well i want to be less bogged down by crap and petty nothingness

i want to be free and happy and alive and no troubles could ever be so tough when i remember i have people to spend my time with.

just felt like sharing that...

When I googled boredom it gave me simply

"The condition of being bored"

so i thought I'd dig deeper...

"The psychoanalysis of boredom reveals that boredom is actually attributed to a kind of phobic obsessional fluctuation between withdrawal and ardent desire (the driving impulsive acts that provide an outlet). Like inhibition, boredom is not simply a lack of movement but a pointless stagnation, to which is added an enduring hatred of time. It is a defense against a phobic anxiety over a primary, but undifferentiated, investment in objects (either emotional or physical)."

so rather than be focused on one thing or another or finding something to do people who get bored usually complain about being where-ever they are ... instead of finding something good about the moment or finding something to attach themselves to to make that moment meaningful... OR they HAVE to attach them selves BECAUSE they don't feel they have or they just don't have anything else better to do than be bored.

... so the next time some douche text messages you out of "boredom"... deep down that person just can't handle finding something and is otherwise not educated enough to express themselves in a better way or they're lazy and they're looking to you to otherwise entertain them

See, i never get bored. And when I text someone its because I'm bored or you are a last resort for my sanity

See, i believe time is precious ... and there's really no time to ever BE bored because there's always something to be done, something that I could be doing.

so instead of saying you're bored express yourself. Why did you make an effort out of the infinite random things or people you could have sought out it'd be flattering to think that you might want to get to know me or that you actually cared

rather

than you were just bored

oh btw i posted a new video

please feel free to comment and tell me what you think

» Sign of Life...
Why do I feel like Jodie Foster in Contact... listening for that sign of life that could be out there million of miles away wanting to be heard and waiting for some sign that we aren't alone.

because as the great quote from that movie states ... if there isn't life out there in the great vastness of this space we live in... well then... seems to me like that's a pretty big waste of space.

but its not just that for me. personally i could care less if aliens exist out there... we have enough problems as it is with one planet... and if there are hot space guys out there its just going to make dating that much more complicated... not to mention weird.

"Hi mom by the way I'm gay and my boyfriend wants me to move to his apartment on Uranus. love you though."

My point is... I wonder if there's life out there. Out there meaning here. Someone I can truly relate with, who can give me what it is I think I'm looking for.

... i just figure maybe it just isn't my time... yet.

but like any other girl (guy) i do want that story book end

that he by his own will would try and break some spell on me

just show up on my door step and say "choose me because I want you... and it may be fast or stupid or a leap" and I'd think ... hell yes.

but why not try

way not take the leap with someone

meld two lives into one

fight the small things

face the big obstacles as the come

and they will come.

but there in lies the beauty of sharing a life with someone

not doing it alone.

Am I the only one who understands that?
