Cemeteries are the new Parks

We drive by the Pleasant Grove Cemetery almost daily. About two weeks ago Reed asked if we could go to the cemetery. I told him that we could go, but then in my head thought that he would forget, and that I would not ever take him. Well, he did not forget. Today after Alan got home from school, I packed the kids into the car for a quick twenty minute look at the cemetery. On the way there I lectured them on respecting the headstones by not climbing them or playing hopscotch on them. When we got there the quick 20 minutes turned into 40 minutes then an hour. We found out that graves with American flags flying next to them were all veterens of various wars. We found really old graves and ones that had just been filled in. All the while the kids were asking questions about everything. We ended up in the Veterens memorial on one side of the cemetery. A bronze statue depicting a modern soldier and a revolutionary war soldier in the center. The kids were entranced by all the names on the memorial wall and the different symbols for the branches of the military. We finally wandered back to the car with arms full of pine cones. Tired and thirsty we drove home to drink lemonade. Who knew that cemeteries were so cool?

B-Best Friend? Rob, but don't tell him, I make him work really hard to be my friend.

 

C-Cake or pie? UMMMMM, BOTH, Why does there have to be a choice????

D-Day of choice? A day of peace and quiet, no music, no crying, no cleaning.

 

E-Essential Item? Deoderant, I get really stinky otherwise.

 

F-Favorite color? Blue, especially Cobalt blue.

 

G-Gummy bears or worms? Neither, not a huge gummy fan.

 

I-Favorite indulgence? A scortching hot bath that leaves my skin bright red when I get out. Doing something creative.

 

J-January or July? I don't like this question. I don't like either. January is too cold and July is too hot. This year I'm looking forward to July though, we're going on vacation this July.

 

K-Kids? Boy, Boy, Girl, Girl,. Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl, is too easy, I chose the harder way.

M-Marriage date? 5-19-2001

 

N-Number of brothers and sisters? 4 brothers and 2 sisters

 

O-Oranges or Apples? I love apples straight off the tree in the fall and oranges in December.

 

P-Phobias? The Dark. You can't run down a dark hallway too fast, and must NEVER look in a mirror in the dead of night. Why? I'm not sure, but something IS going to get me.

 

Q-Quote? "It's better to ask forgivness than permission." I like the way it sounds in Spanish better: "Mejor pedir perdon que permiso." Flows better.

 

R-Reasons to smile? Yes, but not right now.

 

S-Season of choice? Spring or Fall.

 

T-Tag 3 people: I believe in letting people feel the tag themselves. You know who you are, you feel the tag, and know that you are the chosen one.

 

U-Unknown fact about me? I think most people wish I didn't share so much. Is there something that someone DOESN'T know about me? That would be a good question. Oh wait, hey, here's one : I DESPISE cleaning up bodily fluids and poop. I've done that A LOT the last few days.

W-Worst habit? I don't think I can write it down in fear of the flack that I will take.

 

X-Xray or Ultrasound? Ultrasound when expecitng. Way fun.

 

Y-Your favorite food?  Depends. I just like really good high quality food.

Sophie's to- do list list

1. Eat breakfast
2. Have a bath
3. Find aerosol sunscreen, spray till empty
4. Play with playdough
6. Take off pants and pee on floor
7. Find hairspray and try to figure out the pump mechanism
8. Dance in front of Mom and visiting teachers
9. Scoot stool up to counter, find salt and pepper shakers
10. Take salt and pepper shakers downstairs
11. Empty salt and pepper shakers onto the couch, floor and cupholders of the stroller.
12. Go tell Mom about the mess
13. Dance in front of Mom and visiting teachers with no pants on.
14. Have lunch
15. Play with playdough
16. Play with cousins
17. Paint with watercolors
18. Poop in new panties
19 . Take another bath
20. Watch 10 minutes of TV, but insist that it stay on after leaving.
21. Play blocks in my room.
22. Ask for dinner and then don't eat

26. Take another bath, this time washing hair again
27. Run downstairs and find brothers dental floss

Riding the ducks?

'Riding the ducks' is a water/land tour that we took in Seattle. So much fun! The drivers are loud, obnoxious and make the experience lots of fun.

We learned that Seattle had the worlds first automatic car wash. I thought the elephant was kind of fun.

Alan and Reed LOVED this tour. It was nice to take a break from walking around the city and sit for a while.

 It is also where part of 'Sleepless in Seattle was filmed. We even got to see the famous house boat where part of the movie was filmed. It was recently sold for a mere 2.5 million.

If you look very close you can see the Space Needle.

Very fun touristy thing to do. I highly recomend it.

Seattle Aquarium

Seattle has a great aquarium. They even have a lot of fish there. Some pictures from our visit:

It's official! Rob is 6' !

Alan and Reed had a WONDERFUL time putting together an Orca Skeleton. It took about an hour.

What the???????

We went to church with my sister who lives in Seattle on Sunday. Reed came home with this hand-out that he colored. Is it just me, cuz I don't get it. Are we

like Hindu but with sheep?  It's going on my fridge for a long time.
