Stephen King is a very good, and very prolific, writer, I don’t think there is much question about that. His work may not be your preferred genre or style, but that is a different matter.
So regardless of that, let’s proceed. I picked up this novel, Carrie, at a thrift store for a buck or two. Even though it was his first published novel and was first released in the 1970s, I had never read it or even seen the movie(s) made from it. Over the years I have read at least a dozen of his books, maybe more, and they were all at least good, some were REALLY good. But some were REALLY long too. Not this one though. It was just a couple hundred pages and it moved along like a bullet train. I couldn’t put it down and in fact I finished it in a day. That hasn’t happened in decades.
There is no filler in this one, nothing where you want to skip ahead. He foreshadows what is going to happen but you just have to see for yourself and boy does it happen. Read it and see….
