I love Captain America!!!

  I love Captain America!!! Not in a romantic way though, in an idealistic way. Due to Captain America being born and raised in the 1920's, he has an old fashioned set of values and ideals, which often line up with mine. Since I automatically measure media against my standards, Captain America quickly became my favorite superhero. Captain America stands for the ideals of America, rather than what it actually is.
   Recently, I was riding in the car with my older brother who was playing his music. The song "Holding out for a Hero" from the Footloose movies came on and while listening to song, which I also like though not as much as Captain America, I came up with the idea that I should make a music video for it similar to my one for  "It's not Easy" which I published on this blog previously. Integrity Project

Over the last few months I've researched what the Prophets have said about integrity, and taken some of the best quotes to create images that can remind me of the importance of maintaining my integrity. Here is the final product:

The lighthouse picture now graces the children's desktop on my dad's computer, a choice which Carie much approves of.

Computer Programming

In my computer programming class, we've spent the last week writing a program to do a few basic calculations. The teacher didn't explain all the necessary steps, so I had to figure it out as I went along. Each day I managed to figure out an additional step, but yesterday I came up with a problem that I try every way I could think of to solve it. Finally, today I asked the kid sitting next to me to help. He didn't even understand my question, so he showed me his code. I hadn't put the >> in after the math directions. After I fixed it, I noticed one line of sample code on the instruction sheet that should have keyed me in on the issue, but I didn't pay attention to it because I'd decided not to worry about getting an "A", just work for a "C" and hope I figure it out. (I ended up doing the work for a "B".) The whole situation was really annoying, but I've discovered that I really like programming because it gives me the opportunity to do something constructive that if I don't do perfectly the first time, I can usually solve the problem on my own given enough time. It's kind of like algebra that way.

Lego Desktoppers

Yesterday, I said that I hadn't done much this week, which is probably correct. However, I realized that I have spent some time with Legos recently and I took some pictures of the results. I was sitting in my room one day thinking about how I'd like a pen cup with a matching smaller container to keep stuff in on my desk. As I worked on it I revised and combined my idea a bit. This is what it now looks like.

 I use the tall part for pens and pencils, the long one for sticky notes and the other one for the little things I keep on my desk. I followed the pen cup up with a flash card holder that doesn't match it, but fulfills its purpose.

The blue Legos on top are just there because I missed them when putting away the Legos and didn't want to go through the effort of getting them out again.

Up to Date

    Tomorrow is a big day for my family. My older brother is getting ordained as an Elder and my younger sister is receiving her Young Womanhood Recognition Award! We are having family up to celebrate, though beyond my paternal grandparents, I don't know who's coming.
    Mike's birthday was yesterday, he turned 9. Carie turns 16 on Tuesday, Danny, or Dano as he prefers, is turning 7 on Wednesday.
    Most of my week has been spent on homework, but I've done a decent amount of reading, mostly some library books.

Senior Year Schedule

    I just got back from the Counseling Office where my counselor ironed out the wrinkles in my schedule. In assigning classes, my Counselor was not sure as to my priorities and therefore when putting me in classes chose two interesting tech classes rather than the AP Biology class. Since it was merely a matter of priority, that was easily changed. I also had no sixth hour scheduled, so I had to choose another class to fill that spot. Really easy, thanks to the help and assistance of my counselor.

Family Reunion Pictures

We've been home from the Hugo Family Pent-annual Reunion for about half a week. It was fun to see people we hadn't seen in years because we never visit grandparents at the same time or they live outside the continental U.S.
    One of the funniest things was in the pictures the Mothers took on Sunday. I have chosen the best four to tell the story. As I do, keep in mind that my mom, at 5'8", is the shortest Hugo child. I have circled myself in each picture as emphasis.

Here is a shot that is just the grandchildren gathered for a picture, missing four of the younger ones who were not available.

Now the Aunts asked the kids to line up according to height.
