Peyton's first doctors visit

Peyton is at his first Doctors visit. He weighed 4 lbs 14 ounces and was 17.5 inches. He does not like being naked, but is doing really well. 

The first night is behind us.

So "little Peyton" didn't want to go to sleep last night. I was up with him until about 2 AM. He was awake most of the time. We went through 3 diapers and two outfits and all the while in the dark, because I didn't want to wake Julie up. 

Then at 2 Julie took over and of course he slept the rest of the night. She couldn't get him to wake up at 4 to eat. Then he slept until 8 this morning. Tonight I speak the second shift. 

Waiting and more waiting

So now we are waiting in the Special Care Nursery, which we learned he was in just because of the adoption. We has been completely healthy the entire time. Because he was early they have to do a carseat test. They have to do a 20 minute test to get a baseline oxygen. Then they put him in the carseat for another 20 minutes and make sure he can maintain his oxygen while crunched up in the carseat. Once that is done we can leave. They just updated us that he needs to do a three hour car seat test because of our drive home to Cedar City. So we're working to get him discharged, but we have to wait for the agency owner who was listed on the papers. 

So we will be waiting for another 3 hours.  Man this changes faster than I can keep up. Peyton was born 5 lbs and 17 inches long. But as most babies do, he lost some weight and it turns out he is too small for our carseat. So he doesn't need the test after all and will be riding flat in a car-bed. 

We have been waiting an hour for the owner of the agency, listed as the case worker for this case to come so we can be discharged. Oh the joys of waiting. 

Little Peyton is our little boy!

Everything has been signed and we were very surprised to learn he is ready to come home. We were thinking Sunday or Monday he'd be released, but we are so excited to take him home. Everyone thought I was crazy when I packed my bag this morning with clothes, diapers, wipes and bottles. It looks like that was a good plan. We will probably stay here until Monday and meet with Juliaun and her little two year old son at a park before we head home. 

It still doesn't seem real for me (because it's so different from my daughters births. I'm sure after a few 2 AM feedings it will feel more real.

We met "little peanut" tonight

We were able to meet the birth mother tonight and meet this adorable little boy. He didn't want to open his eyes. We had the chance to feed him and burp him.  At 5 lbs he is little. The nursing staff has nick named him "little peanut" and say he is the quietest baby in the nursery. His mother gave him the name of Peyton, which we liked better than Tyler once we saw him. 

All the paperwork should be signed tomorrow morning. So we'll post an update tomorrow. 

On our way

So we are on our way to Salt Lake City. Jared and I are going to meet the birth mom tonight at the hospital. Hopefully we will also be able to see the little baby. As of right now she is planning on signing the relinquishment paperwork tomorrow morning at 10:00 am. It had been a crazy day trying to figure out all the paperwork, financing, work schedules, and packing. Jared picked up the girls today and told them about going to Salt Lake to get their new brother. They squealed with excitement! This little baby will not be starved for attention in our home!
